Eternal Father, thank you for the gift of life and the gift of Your blessings. I am sorry for thinking only of how my gifts profit me. Help me to find creatively ways of sharing my blessings with others and leading them to You. Amen.
Say A Hail Mary for me. It's my birthday
Lord, you search us and you know us; you see right through our hidden motives. Grant us the rare gift of divine wisdom and sharp discernment. Help us to choose our friends wisely, to see through manipulative intentions & to ruthlessly root out every idea or habit. Amen.
Lord, grant us the radical courage to tell the truth, even when it costs us our pride or our comfort. Deliver us from the temptation to smooth things over with easy lies, and rescue us from the sinking waters of deceit. Teach us to love your truth above all else. Amen.
Father, thank You for loving us even when we try to fill our souls with things that leave us empty. Grant us the grace to hunger deeply for your love, your Word, and your presence. Teach us to trust that your grace is more than enough for us. Amen.
Stop treating God like a celestial ATM. 🛑 True friendship isn't a transaction—it’s leaning your heaviest grief against Him when life falls apart.
Read that again.
Lord, clear away my shallow expectations of You. Teach me to trust Your presence in my deepest pain, and make me a friend who stays true when the music stops. Amen.
Lord, please deliver us from our past mistakes and our blind spots. Give us the sense to walk in real love, so that our lives become good seeds that help others grow. Amen.
Lord, grant us the courage to choose You in the small, unseen moments of our day. Keep us firmly attached to You, so that we do not rot away in pride or compromise. May our small choices become hidden yeast, transforming the world around us for Your glory. Amen.
O Lord, You are our portion and our cup. Forgive us for filling our hands with dust while Your treasures sit waiting. Grant us the childlike wisdom of Solomon to know our limitations, and give us the courage to surrender our sins. Amen.
Lord Jesus, empty me of myself so that I may be filled with You. Hide me behind Your cross, so that when the world looks at me, they do not see my pride, but Your love, Your grace, and Your eternal light. Amen
Lord, please untangle our hearts from the distractions of this world. Break up the hardened ground of our pride, and help us become good soil where Your love can take deep, unbreakable root. Amen.
I came across this video of a young lady that was weeping during a priestly ordination in one of the dioceses in Nigeria last week Saturday. As expected, it attracted all kinds of reactions. Some immediately concluded that she was crying because "her boyfriend had left her to become a priest," along with many other dismissive comments.
Those reactions are not the focus of this post. Perhaps I'll address them another day.
What caught my attention was the explanation of someone who knew the young lady and her family and was present at the ordination. He shared that the lady weeping in the video and the newly ordained priest are the only two children in their family. The priest ordained that day was her only brother and seeing him ordained got her emotional.
Many people may not understand that emotion, but I do. It reminds me of my own ordination to the diaconate. My mum cried almost throughout the entire Mass (Perhaps, if that scene were caught on the camera, someone might have concluded that it was a sugar mummy crying because her sugar son left her to become a priest😁).
You see, people often think priestly ordination is only a joyful celebration. It is. But for many families, it is also a moment of profound sacrifice.
From the day a man is ordained, he belongs to God in a new and irrevocable way. It does not mean he stops loving his family or cuts ties with them. But then, his life is no longer his own. His availability, his time, his heart, and his ministry are now given to the whole Church.
Even when a priest visits his family during his vacation, he soon realizes he is no longer simply "at home." He returns as a son, certainly, but also as a priest. His parish becomes his home, and the people entrusted to his care become his family.
This quiet sacrifice is one of the hidden dimensions of the priestly vocation. It is rarely spoken about, yet it is deeply real, not only for the priest, but also for those who love him most.

Lord, continue Your steadfast love to those who know You. Turn my eyes away from empty, broken cisterns, and give me the strength to trade my morning screen time for Your presence. Grant me the discipline to give You the first moments of each day. Amen.
“How you take fine finish come say you wan be fada?”
Someone commented this on a photo of the newly ordained Dominican friars. Is giving your best years, talents, or "good looks" to God a waste?
Let's talk about moving "from a mess to a message"
