Do Gen Ed’s still have a place in college education? Are they worth the cost to add value to your education? Could eliminating Gen Ed’s help to reduce student loan debt?

For context, both UM and MSU require at least 27-30 Gen Ed credits - roughly 2 semesters worth of classes.
