The ongoing challenges people face while living in a warzone often result in stress-related conditions. In our clinics, we see these conditions manifest via chronic or transient insomnia, mixed anxiety-depressive disorder (MADD), and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) .

🟥Most commonly we see patients in hypertensive crisis.
This devastating condition can result in hormonal overdrive, vessel damage and nervous system hyperactivity where the sympathetic nervous system remains permanently activated. The patient may experience persistent exhaustion; daily activity strain where simple tasks can suddenly become taxing; and chronic pain such as recurring migraines, muscle aches, or nerve tingling.

🕯️ It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of one of our former team members, Eva (Alice) Roiter, during the russian attack on Kyiv on the night of August 1st 2026.

She and her team responded to a strike in Kyiv to provide medical care to the victims of the attack. Unfortunately, she and another team member, Vitalina Yarovenko, were killed in a second-strike by the russians: https://t.co/91M4S8UXsm

Eva was a dedicated, kind, and caring person who devoted her life to saving others. Many people are alive today who would not have been if not for her incredible efforts over many years of this unjust and terrible war. We are greatly saddened by her loss, and offer our deepest condolences to her friends and family. 🕯️

🩻 eFAST exams in forward areas ⛑️

In this footage our medics perform the final step of the eFAST (Extended Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma) exam, focusing on the pelvic area to detect free fluid—likely blood—indicating internal hemorrhage. This rapid, non-invasive diagnostic tool is pivotal in triage and a must in most of our cases with shrapnel exposure.

A "positive" finding can instantly escalate a patient’s priority, often dictating the need for urgent surgical intervention. While this soldier appears stable now, his condition could deteriorate rapidly without warning. Sonography bridges the gap between vague clinical signs and actionable insights, allowing providers to anticipate challenges, prepare resources, get ahead of developments or call in a rapid evac.

Beyond diagnostics; sonography helps to create access, perform nerve blocks or confirm suspicions. In resource-limited settings like this, where heavy equipment is unavailable, portable ultrasound devices, i-STAT analyzers, or similar tools are lifesavers—enabling early detection, precise decision-making, and ultimately, saving lives before it’s too late. Should your region have such tools available, we sure know how to put them to use.

In our clinics we see a lot of pain. Back pain caused by degenerative disk disease and its complications like sciatica and other forms of radiculopathy. We treat hip and knee osteoarthritis. Some of our elderly patients suffer from rheumatoid arthritis (inflammatory autoimmune disease that can affect the whole body), as well as chronic neuropathic pain due to compressed spine fracture.

Without these clinics vulnerable people remain in distress.

Treating patients, especially those with multiple injuries, requires a lot of materials. Dressings and bandages, cleaning solutions and antibiotics, analgesics and sedatives, equipment such as pulse-oximeters and ultrasounds - our medical teams handle all of these with trained hands.

Even if a patient is breathing, adequate oxygen intake cannot be assumed.
Constant monitoring is critical, and the 🔷pulse-ox🔷 is a vital tool.

▶ It allows noninvasive monitoring of blood oxygen saturation (SpO₂), and provides an early-warning system for hypoxemia; typically below 92% saturation
▶ Burns can reduce saturation by reducing the chests ability to expand and contract, by compromising an airway (injury or swelling, pneumothorax, hemothorax, etc.), but also through a number of other mechanisms
▶ Caution: standard pulse oximeters are highly unreliable for detecting true oxygenation in patients suffering from CO poisoning. Because CO strongly binds to hemoglobin, standard devices falsely overestimate oxygen levels.
