@AndrewAndrewA16@1stclassmaths@MattTheApp Pearson Edexcel do a scheme of work for all the entry levels as well as Level 1 and Level 2. I think NCFE also provide them. It's worth checking with the exam board that you use.
Finally a good year for our FS Level 2 pass rate at my college - more than doubled! If I'm honest, if we hadn't seen an improvement I was ready to give up! It's taken a lot of hard work and a fantastic colleague who has worked with me to champion new approaches. Thoughts on why:
4) The extra hour! Our college has implemented a third hour and we have used it to consolidate our learning focussing on fluency and accessing exam questions.
We are excited to introduce our new English and Mathematics Functional Skills qualifications, which are available from Entry Level 1 to Level 2.

@matthewgale2 A formula sheet for FS would need to be thought through. I don’t teach the compound interest formula because they can’t remember it. If they had it in the exam I probably would. And have the circle formula would definitely help!
With discussions taking place around continued use of formula sheets for GCSE wondering if the conversation should be opened for Functional Skills students having access to key formula. What are people’s thoughts #fsmathsfocus#fsmaths#femaths#functionalskills
@jonchristophe Maybe @educationgovuk need to open the conversation with @ofqual regarding Functional Skills students not having to memorise formulas for their exams especially as so many of them have difficulties with memory.
@matthewgale2 In some ways I agree however for so many of my students memory is a big issue and even if having a formula sheet would help them access just one more question I’d be happy!
Thinking of creating some resources designed specifically for teaching Functional Skills Maths. Which resources do you feel would be most helpful for supporting your students and increasing pass rates? #fsmathsfocus#fsmaths#femaths#functionalskills
A very quick update from me to say the Functional Skills Maths Entry Level 3 book is now available on Amazon. Other bookstores will follow shortly. Level 1 and Level 2 books coming soon.
@StudyMaths Just been introduced to the Gattegno Chart and love that you have a version on MathsBot - makes it really visual for students and great to refer to during teaching.
🗣 With English and maths being talked about more than ever before, @DavidRedden13 Functional Skills specialist at the awarding organisation @NCFE outlines:
The challenges facing both learners and educators, and discusses what needs to be done to change the status quo.
