@CollinHuebler@FionaMattatall And why would they? It makes no sense. Why would an actual separatist party do this? Its more likely just a smoke screen to undermine separation. But whatever it was never not going be a scandal start to finish. Too much money involved. Too much corruption.
@govt_corrupt There is just so much corruption and double standards everywhere. Top to bottom. I often wonder if there are enough honest people to fix anything. Older I get the more I'm with the taxation is theft crowd.
@jmhamiltonblog I don't disagree that she damaged the renewable market in alberta. But... in all honesty alberta needs stable power year round and I think she's right in that natural gas or nuclear or something else is a probably a better fit for us.
@IronMapleX@govt_corrupt Yep. Every time i tried to get ahead there was a claw back. Very difficult to finally get above it and then you just pay enormous taxes. Its a pretty hard climb and honestly in hindsight might not have been worth the sacrifice.
@rushdee@govt_corrupt Honestly though. Canada is headed in completely the wrong direction. Its a risk worth taking. It could fail spectacularly, but staying seems guaranteed to fail. I have more faith albertans will work hard to build a future than Canada on the whole.
@TheChosenOme@govt_corrupt Easy is pretending everything is OK and doing nothing. Accepting that we need to make a major change that will require work and sacrifice isn't easy. But Canada won't change unless forced. So we force it and get rid of the institutional oppression and unfairness or leave.
@DreaHumphrey They'd all be fun to sit beside and talk to casually i think. Kamala is definitely lowest on my list but she's still seen and done stuff.
@knows_jill Respectfully disagree. Food, shelter, security, jobs, deficit etc. I dont think the liberals are on the right side of any of it. They've neglected the fundamentals in pursuit of their goals. But conservatives can do that as well. They're all people, good and bad.
@cml199002@ShaunRickard67 This is the most important reason for alberta separation imo. Do it now, and we can try to integrate all the new people and find a new normal that works. Otherwise, it could be walled neighborhoods, etc, and South Africa style problems.
@MelissaLMRogers the first thing he did was establish a mechanism (for him) to bypass all the regulations alberta was complaining about. Which imo is an admission that the federal government had made it impossible to do anything productive. what he does with that power is to be seen.
@MelissaLMRogers@NorthernGal1991 maybe. brexit happened. quebec was very close.
if you vote 20% then we go back to status quo. you vote >50% then maybe canada finally is willing to either change a bunch of the discriminatory stuff and you stay or they don't and you leave.
@TPatroi @MBDan7 My issue is the mandate.
EV's are improving, batteries are improving, available styles, etc. People will buy them if they're the best option. A mandate just hurts anybody where it's not the best option for them.
@DC_Draino Nah look at an electoral map and you'll see Canada isn't one homogeneous group. Different provinces vote different ways and if you wanted to guess how pick the state directly beneath them.
@TheRealDKGray But honestly, I like Alberta. Had the chance to stay in the US back then and chose to come back. Last few years I've been regretting it but at the time I could never have imagined what direction the liberal party would take the country. Sigh.
@TheRealDKGray USA.
Way better salaries for my work and access to better Healthcare.
Probably one of Nevada, Texas, Florida. Know various people who moved to Texas or Florida and like it. Lived in Nevada years ago and liked it. They also all have good hockey teams, ๐
@yer_conscience@jimsallas@nut_meggy The federal government did try to get into some renewable like the ev battery battery plants and bug protein and stuff but those are likely to fail. hydrogen looks likely to fail. Entire auto industry in north America could die because they're not keeping up. Tariffs or no
@yer_conscience@jimsallas@nut_meggy Economic diversification is hard without government involvement. And the government has to be smart. Canada feels much less diversified now than 40 years ago. We used to have tech companies, retail chains, aircraft and auto manufacturing, farming, mining etc. Alot is gone
