Over 5,500 children have been forced to leave their homes over the past two weeks as violence escalated in El Obeid, northern Kordofan, Sudan. The alert comes from Save the Children, according to which the displaced people in the city and surrounding areas have now exceeded 11,000. The organization also warns that up to half a million civilians are at risk of being caught up in hostilities: drone attacks, destruction of essential infrastructure and the progressive isolation of the city are aggravating an already dramatic humanitarian crisis.

In northern Kordofan, at least 15 civilians have been killed in two drone strikes against civilian vehicles, one of which was transporting people to a wedding and the other was loaded with water supplies, according to the Human Rights Group Emergency Lawyers reported.
