The day of my very first budget speech is one I will never forget, though not for the reasons most might expect.

I had barely reached home after the Budget speech when my phone rang. It was the Hon'ble Prime Minister.

The first words I heard were filled with genuine worry: “Why didn’t you take care of yourself?” Before I could even gather my thoughts, he had already acted. He sent his personal doctor straight to my home, instructing him to run all the necessary tests and make sure I was absolutely fine.

What moved me most was that this concern did not fade with time. Even today, every now and then, he reminds me: “Are you looking after yourself? How are you keeping?”

For someone who leads a nation, who juggles responsibilities that touch every corner of the country, to remember and worry about the well-being of his colleagues is something extraordinary.

People see Hon'ble PM @narendramodi ji as a strong, serious, and determined leader, and yes, he is all of that. But I have also seen another side of him, one that is tender, thoughtful, and humane. That combination of firmness and compassion is what makes him different.

#WATCH | Dhaula Kuan BMW accident | Delhi | Son of the deceased, Navnoor Singh says, "I had just come from a friend's house when I got a message from my mother that she was going to Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, but she did not pick up my call... I got a call from a family friend who told me about the accident and that my parents are admitted in New Life Hospital in GTB Nagar... The accident happened around 1 or 1:30 pm, a girl driving a BMW hit my parents' motorcycle. There was definitely something wrong, but they were taken to a hospital 20 km away which had no facilities... My father was declared dead in the hospital, but people there said that death instantly after an accident is very rare... There are many superspeciality hospitals near Dhaula Kuan and AIIMS too, if they had been sent there, he could have been saved. Those who were in the car have sustained minor injuries, and in the same hospital, I am not sure if it is from a trusted source. New Life Hospital in GTB Nagar belongs to the girl driving the BMW and her husband was also admitted in the same hospital... My parents were sent to the hospital in a delivery van. When my mother gained consciousness, she was in the passenger seat and looked back to see my father lying down..."

Caleb, a Canadian, posted a video of an unwalkable footpath from the Majestic bus stand to a nearby Starbucks in Bengaluru.

The video went viral, and the embarrassed municipality cleaned the area and then made a PR video with him, while staff sat down on the footpath to eat, to show Caleb how clean it was. The corporation commissioner also sat down and gave big talks. "It's my duty." If it was duty, then why wasn't it done till now? Needed a video from a white man to go viral to be reminded of duty?
