Retired occupational therapist (still fascinated by occupation & its relationship with health) who’s given it all up to spend more time with her harp).
Had a lovely Christmas? Enjoyed the lights -bright challenges to the dark days? Filled bellies with beautiful food shared with family and friends around your table?
Hope so ❤️ We did ❤️. We are the lucky ones.
Perhaps you can support others too?

@Shrink_at_Large The threshold today to be admitted is so high I can not see any benefit in this, only potential harm. It definitely underestimates (for their own purpose?) What seriously ill is. And in medium secure, a complete waste of time and money. And where's the evidence?
@DrAmirKhanGP As an occupational therapist (well, retired, so technically ex-occupational therapist), I concur. A basic activity analysis shows that this particular occupation has some unnecessary dark and unhealthy elements; it can be made more therapeutic by the removal of, well, killing. 🤷🏼♀️
@MogsyMorg @alzheimerssoc I've been watching a programme tonight and the advert has been shown to me four times. Four times. It is not at all helpful. It simply adds fear and distress. ( And not every person will have this trajectory btw). Seriously flawed campaign.
@alzheimerssoc I just heard your “Dying Again” radio advert while driving just now and all I could think of was THANK GOD I did not have an Alzheimers sufferer in my car at the time. What an ugly confronting message to the patients with the disease.
Hearing commentators saying the problem is we closed the old hospitals but never created care in the community.
Simplistic & poorly informed.
In early 2000s, 700 new specialised community teams were created inc 220 outreach teams.
Question is how this progress was lost.
Much discussion about benefits of outreach teams in mental health.
And promises to “learn the lessons” from the Nottingham tragedy - a phrase that infuriates families.
But the real question is why we unlearned past lessons & what this tells us about future safety. 🧵
This.
This is how we can be. Kind, fair, respectful and properly inclusive. Passionate.
This is just what I needed to hear this morning, though p, not going to lie, I’m in tears. Can we all just #BeMoreDarren?
Please listen though the full seven minutes and share ❤️
Following the results of #GE24 our Senior Policy Advocate @Hannah_Paylor considers what a Labour government might mean for Collective Wellbeing.

My mum’s book group read @DrMichaelMosley’s Just One Thing recently and one of them produced this summary of his brilliant, sensible, achievable advice (that we could all benefit from following!) #MichaelMosley#RIPMichaelMosley
Really important piece, relevant in Scotland, of course, but equally pertinent across the UK- especially as we consider whom we next want to send to work for us in Parliament.
@CatSmithMP@LizziCollinge@Keir_Starmer
@SoVeryBritish@Hannah_Paylor Definitely a very British exaggeration generally, but most specifically a very Northern one! (Applies particularly when the ‘big light’ has been left on. 😉
