STATEMENT
Farm victims should not be political props
Afrikaners for South Africa (AfSA) strongly condemns Lex Libertas’s planned display of 3 000 white crosses in Washington, DC. We believe the campaign exploits the suffering of farm victims to advance a narrow political agenda, presents Americans with a misleading picture of South Africa and risks deepening racial divisions at home.
We are Afrikaners. We unequivocally condemn farm killings and all violence against farming communities. Victims deserve justice, survivors need support, and rural safety requires urgent action.
Our concern is that their suffering is being used to tell a misleading story and advance a private political agenda.
The evidence does not support a campaign of racial persecution:
South Africa’s violent-crime crisis affects every community, including black farmers and farmworkers. Research indicates that farm attacks are driven mainly by robbery and other criminal motives rather than by a coordinated campaign of racial persecution. This does not rule out racial hatred in a handful of individual attacks, but it challenges the picture the cross campaign presents.
Grief is not a mandate for self-governance:
Lex Libertas openly links the crosses to its personal pursuit of American support for white “self-governance” (https://t.co/lPgPtuLtm9). That political ambition deserves scrutiny on its own merits. The deaths of farm victims cannot serve as a mandate for it.
The organisers should explain what this spectacle will achieve for those still living with the threat of violence. Will it improve policing, speed up emergency responses, or provide lasting support for grieving families? Its success should be measured in those terms, not in headlines or political theatre.
South Africans could pay the price:
The distorted narrative could discourage tourism and investment in South Africa. Within South Africa, it can inflame racial suspicion and undermine cooperation between communities whose safety depends on one another.
The Trump administration’s aid cuts, visa restrictions and threats of further action suggest that South Africa is already being used to score political points in the US. With American midterm elections approaching, we fear this display will give that campaign fresh ammunition. South Africans should not pay the price for a small faction’s political point-scoring and fundraising in America.
Lex Libertas and its associates speak for a minority:
Lex Libertas does not speak for all Afrikaners or all South Africans. We ask Americans to listen to a wider range of South African voices and, should they wish, support practical and honest efforts to reduce violence across all communities.
Honour all victims. Demand the full picture. Help us build a safer, more united South Africa.
President Ramaphosa is not everyone's cup, you know. I know that it is difficult for those at the back, but please give the President his flowers.
In response to Lt-Gen Mkhwanazi's 06 July 2025 public address, the simplest thing the President could have done, and many of these at top-left had wanted him to do, was to fire the Police Minister on the spot. That is accountability, right?
The results: The Police Minister would have been held accountable by being fired and replaced with another, and Justice Madlanga would have been enjoying his retirement unbothered. The Madlanga-exposed alleged underworld figures would not be bothered whether a given day was a Monday or a Friday.
But no, the President said hold my cup.
The result: (i) A number of rogue men and women in blue uniform have been stripped off their police badges, (b) alleged criminal cartels have been exposed and the head of IDAC has hanged her gorgeous head in shame.
What is more?
This p.m, an almost the highest ranking police general-cum-alleged rapist-cum-sexual groomer-cum alleged human trafficker is sleeping in jail.
We have seem Commissions of Inquiry come and go. But this time, the President set up a Commission of special kind, a Lionel Messi of Commissions.

Certain people are trying to mislead the public by saying that the Western Cape High Court is giving different rulings on matters that are similar viz Busisiwe Mkhwebane and the president's matter.
The reasons for Mkhwebane seeking interim interdict against Section 194 inquiry were as follows:
(1) President Ramaphosa was conflicted in suspending her because she was investigating him on Phala Phala
(2) She was awaiting rulings on the Concourt to rescind some of its rulings which found her grossly incompetent
(3) Inadequate Legal Representation
She claimed the State set a budget on her legal costs which meant this restricted the size or choice of Legal representation
(4) Procedural unfairness and bias
She claimed alleged bias against the against Section 194 inquiry chairperson ( Dyantyi).
The president on the other hand sought interim interdict arguing that a s89 report which the impeachment inquiry would be based on is still under review.
Surely even to a Grade 1 learner the reasons for the two cases are not the same.
One thing that stood out against Córdoba was how much more tactically mature this Orlando Pirates side looks compared to last season.
Last season, Pirates often relied on individual brilliance to escape pressure. Against Córdoba, there was a clearer collective structure. The pressing was more coordinated, the defensive block stayed compact, and after halftime the team looked far more comfortable controlling transitions.
There are still areas to improve especially building from the back against an aggressive press and creating more clear-cut chances, but the foundations are promising.
What impressed me most was the willingness to press as a unit, recover possession higher up the pitch, and react positively after conceding. Those are signs of a team developing a strong tactical identity, not just playing on emotion.
It's only pre-season, so there's no need to get carried away. But if this trajectory continues, Pirates will be a far more complete and difficult team to play against than they were last season.

Two South Africans save R1 000 a month for 30 years
One ends with R694 000.
The other ends with R2 260 000.
Same salary. Same discipline. Same R1 000.
The only difference is where the money slept 🧵
