Remember last week when we discovered Spain had a colony in Africa? Yeah me too, that was fun. Turns out they have 7. The UK has 14, France has 13, the Netherlands has 6, and Denmark has two including Greenland. Yet a tiny nation of Jews living in their ancestral homeland with absolutely zero overseas holdings, let alone in Africa, are the colonizers? Mom was right, the biggest hypocrites really do scream the loudest.

At this point if you still claim Israel is committing genocide in Gaza you are either stupid and ignorant or antisemitic.

The antisemitic version usually means applying a double standard on the definition of genocide and the laws of war just to delegitimize Israel’s existence or right to pursue legitimate goals in a war it did not start or/and dehumanize every IDF soldier as a monster.

I have tried to argue basic definitions. Genocide requires intent to destroy a national, ethnical, racial or religious group as such, in whole or in part. The evidence does not show that intent toward the people in Gaza. What it shows is the opposite. Israel has taken extraordinary steps, often at real cost and risk, to prevent civilian harm while fighting an enemy that hides among them, uses hospitals and schools as bases, and treats its own people as props in an evil grand political strategy of martyrdom to eliminate all jews on the planet.

In the middle of the fighting Israel has let in huge amounts of food, hundreds of thousands of tons, sometimes more than the world food specialists said was needed. Water lines from Israel have stayed open, three of them supplying tens of thousands of cubic meters a day. They have coordinated repairs, kept desalination plants running by sending fuel and even electricity to key ones, and allowed generators so water systems, hospitals and bakeries can keep working. Medical supplies and equipment have poured in by the tens of thousands of tons. Field hospitals coordinated. Patients have been evacuated for treatment outside. When polio showed up for the first time in decades Israel halted fighting every day and worked with WHO and UNICEF on a mass vaccination campaigns. Over a million doses given. That is not how you try to wipe out a people.

Then look at the misinformation machine. Almost every big claim about Israel deliberately targeting journalists or medical staff or children falls apart, and a lot of the time it falls apart because of what Hamas itself admits, sometimes before anyone even finishes basic fact checking. The “journalists” killed for example. Plenty of the names on those lists later show up in Hamas or Islamic Jihad martyr posts as actual operatives or commanders. Dual roles are common in Gaza’s information space. Same with medical workers. People mourned as nurses or doctors get claimed later by the terror groups as fighters. Hospitals have been used as command centers and weapons storage over and over. Hamas officials have even said it out loud at times. Manuals found on how to use the hospitals as Hamas military sites.

The casualty numbers and the “they are targeting children” stories. The Hamas health ministry figures get treated like gospel, yet their own underlying data and later admissions undercut every trending statistic. Combatants get left out or reclassified. Claims of IDF snipers or drones hunting kids usually fail basic reality of sci-fi sniper drones that don’t exist or injury patterns coming out of the same hospitals.

These stories do not need years of investigation to collapse. Often Hamas’s own words or the available evidence do the job within days or weeks. But the first maximalist version is what spreads and sticks and then gets used to accuse the whole country of Israel and its army of genocidal intent.

It is not illegal or wrong to target and destroy your enemy in a war, especially one that started with a massacre, held hostages, and fights from inside the civilian population it claims to protect. Gaza is an awful war with awful conditions, conditions shaped heavily by Hamas’s tactics. That does not make it genocide. The aid that kept flowing, the vaccination campaigns, the water and power facilitation, and the way the propaganda claims kept falling apart all point the other direction. If you ignore all of that and still yell genocide the explanations left are ignorance or a double standard aimed only at Israel. But this entire stupid campaign every war in history is a genocide.

Fact! I’ve never studied a war or battle where one country not participating in the conflict had the ability to save thousands of civilians (easily letting the international community create a displaced person camp just on the other side of the Egypt Gaza crossing at Rafah) and not only didn’t, but deployed military forces to the border and built a new wall to make sure not a single civilian escaped (unless the civilian paid about $10,000 - an estimated 100,00 civilians got out if they paid). The fact that the UN, UNSC, and even U.S. did not put major pressure on Egypt to do so is also a story not told.

Every death in Gaza is ultimately the fault of Palestinians. Without question, the biggest strategic blunder of the 21st century was Putin's illegal invasion of Ukraine.

The consequences have been staggering:

- Over 1 million Russian casualties.
- NATO is larger, more united, and more relevant than at any point in its history.
- Russia has more than doubled its border with NATO.
- Russia exposed the weaknesses of its military, failing to seize Ukraine in 2022, repeatedly revising its war aims, and becoming dependent on Iran and North Korea for weapons, ammunition, and even troops.
- Putin didn't destroy Ukrainian identity. He reinforced it, forged it under fire, and revealed it to the world. He helped create a durable Ukrainian national identity that will endure for generations.
- Russia transformed from an energy superpower with diversified, premium European markets into a supplier increasingly dependent on discounted sales to China.

Few strategic decisions in modern history have produced so many outcomes directly contrary to the aggressor's objectives.

De economische minderheid

Nederland int jaarlijks ongeveer €450 miljard aan belastingen en sociale premies. Dat geld komt uit loonbelasting, btw, vennootschapsbelasting en tientallen andere heffingen. Al die belastingen hebben uiteindelijk dezelfde oorsprong. Er moet eerst een bedrijf zijn dat investeert, produceert, verkoopt en mensen in dienst neemt voordat er winst, lonen, consumptie en dus belasting ontstaat. De groep die dat economische proces op gang brengt, vertegenwoordigt ongeveer een op de negen stemmen.

Een politieke meerderheid die deze groep vertegenwoordigt, bestaat niet. Koopkracht, onderwijs, migratie, wonen, zorg en veiligheid brengen mensen naar de stembus. Het ondernemingsklimaat is min of meer een randzaak. Dat verschil is voldoende om de politieke dynamiek te begrijpen.

Daarom vindt vrijwel iedere afzonderlijke maatregel om lasten voor het bedrijfsleven te verzwaren eenvoudig een politieke meerderheid. Hogere belastingen, extra regels, nieuwe vergunningen of aanvullende verplichtingen raken telkens dezelfde relatief kleine groep. Geen van die maatregelen verandert op zichzelf ook veel maar de optelsom doet dat wel.

Waarschuwingen over een slechter ondernemersklimaat komen meestal van de mensen die zelf investeren, ondernemen of bedrijven vertegenwoordigen. Daardoor krijgen ze gemakkelijk het stempel eigenbelang. De mogelijkheid dat hier tegelijk een algemeen economisch belang wordt verdedigd, verdwijnt uit beeld.

Daar komt bij dat de gevolgen van maatregelen niet direct voelbaar zijn. Een investering die achterwege blijft haalt het nieuws niet. Een fabriek die nooit wordt gebouwd evenmin. Een ondernemer die besluit de volgende uitbreiding in het buitenland te realiseren blijft onzichtbaar. De rekening verschijnt pas jaren later, wanneer investeringen achterblijven, de economische groei afzwakt en de belastinginkomsten steeds moeilijker gelijke tred houden met de uitgaven.

Een democratie kan zichzelf op veel punten corrigeren. Verkiezingen brengen nieuwe meerderheden en nieuw beleid maar op dit punt werkt dat mechanisme eigenlijk niet. De groep die de rekening betaalt is simpelweg te klein om verkiezingen te beslissen, terwijl de gevolgen ook nog eens pas zichtbaar worden als de politici die de besluiten namen allang zijn vervangen.

ICYMI, There is/was never a genocide in Gaza. The opposite actually, one side (Israel) vaccinating, feeding, helping with all services (medical, drinking water, power) while taking extraordinary steps to protect civilians in the worst urban warfare scenario arguably ever seen and the other side (Hamas) doing everything it can to get civilians killed, stealing food, targeting civilians that do not do their demands.

Drieënzestig organisaties, van de Rotterdam Palestina Coalitie, BDS Nederland en BIJ1 Rotterdam tot allerlei Palestijnse en islamitische groeperingen en een handvol antizionistische clubjes, sturen burgemeester Schouten een brief met het verzoek niet deel te nemen aan de herdenking bij Loods 24 zolang de Israëlische ambassadeur, Zvi Aviner Vapni, daar een toespraak houdt. Dit gezelschap noemt de aanwezigheid van de Joodse ambassadeur “moreel verwerpelijk”.

Moreel verwerpelijk! Dit komt van dezelfde lieden die Hamas’ moordpartij van 7 oktober, de systematische verkrachtingen, de afgeslachte families en de openlijke oproepen tot Jodenvernietiging steunen, bagatelliseren of als “verzet” framen. Van mensen die al jarenlang de enige Joodse staat van de kaart willen vegen. Dit graftuig claimt nu de morele autoriteit om te dicteren hoe Joden hun eigen vermoorde voorouders moeten herdenken. En men probeert daarbij (zoals gebruikelijk) de Joodse gemeenschap actief te verdelen, in te zetten en te gijzelen. De schaamteloosheid en goedkope doorzichtigheid zijn werkelijk adembenemend.

Het moet klaar zijn met welke dialoog dan ook met deze figuren. Er valt niets te bespreken met nazi’s en/of hun aanhang en/of hun apologeten. Alleen vierkant achter, naast en vóór Israël staan is de niet-antisemitische optie. Niemand is aan deze haters enige verantwoording schuldig, welke Israëlische regering er ook zit en wat die regering ook doet of nalaat.

Joden mogen en zullen de Holocaust herdenken zoals zij dat willen. De nabestaanden mogen dat doen met de ambassadeur van de Joodse staat, met Netanyahu, met Ben Gvir of zijn moeder. Het is hun rouw, hun geschiedenis, hun keuze. Niet die van een nazi-kongsi die de Holocaust misbruikt om Joden te treiteren, moreel te chanteren, tegen elkaar uit te spelen en de enige Joodse staat te delegitimeren.

Amper tachtig jaar nadat in West-Europa zes miljoen Joden zijn vermoord, is dit continent nog altijd een schaamteloze vertoning. “Nooit weer” geldt niet en heeft nooit gegolden voor de nazi’s. Het gold voor hun slachtoffers. Maar we haalden na de Holocaust doodleuk miljoenen nieuwe nazi’s binnen, we frameden hen cynisch als “nieuwe Joden” en keken toe hoe zij de herinnering aan de vermoorde Joden kaapten en omdraaiden. Dit is de logische en voorspelbare uitkomst van ultiem verraad van onze elites. De freakshow waarin we ons bevinden is allesbehalve een groot mysterie; het is het directe gevolg van decennialang beleid waarin extra Jodenhaat werd geïmporteerd en gelegitimeerd. Alsof we er hier nog niet genoeg van hadden!

Het is tijd voor wéér een denazificatieronde van dit land. Iedere mafklapper die met de vlag van Palestinazië wappert, mag wat mij betreft linea recta worden gedumpt in hun geliefde terreurhol Gaza. Daar kunnen zij hun sympathie voor dood en verderf ventileren, zonder onze herdenkingen, onze straten, onze universiteiten en onze samenleving te vergiftigen.

Burgemeester Schouten moet niet capituleren. De Joodse Gemeenschap Rotterdam heeft al aangegeven de ambassadeur welkom te willen heten en de herdenking niet te willen politiseren. Dat is hun goed recht.

Geen dialoog meer. Geen gepruttel over polarisatie. Geen compromissen meer. Geen onderhandelingen. Buigen voor het oerkwaad van antisemitisme leidt altijd tot rampen en dat geldt voor iedereen die buigt!
