It was such a pleasure to reconnect with my Head of Department, Professor Lawrence Freedman, during the memorial held at King’s College London @KingsCollegeLon for the late Professor Jack Spence, erstwhile Director of Research at Chatham House and Professor in the War Studies Department, who passed away recently.
It was my first time seeing Professor Freedman in more than three decades and, in his graceful manner, he insisted on capturing the historic moment with “my Nigerian mentees”: Professor Funmi Olonisakin @FunmiOlonisakin, now Vice President at King’s College London; Professor Biodun Alao, Professor of African Studies at King’s College London; and me, all products of Professor Freedman in the Department of War Studies at King’s College London.
Now retired, Professor Freedman remains the foremost global scholar of strategy and war and has written some of the most pathbreaking books on war and international relations.

How do we teach leadership without reducing it to managerialism? What does it mean to engage with leadership as a global, plural, and contested idea?
#TeachingGlobalLeadership
In “Teaching Global Leadership in Higher Education: Leadership Across Cultures,” we show how the study of #Global#Leadership can enhance students’ generic and transferable skills, encourage communication, problem-solving, and group work.
