Having experienced 1st hand the impact of asset performance on Western, especially headspans out of Paddington, this is close to my heart. How we renew equipment & replace outdated headspans with new high-performing assets, like the rest of Great Western electric network (1/3)
It’s half term holidays, so we’ve opened our doors 14-16yr olds for our rail electrification school. Giving students a chance to understand how electrification works, as well as how to design and build it. As part of @TheEDTUK's Routes into STEM programme. (1/2)
Our line through South Tyneside is celebrating its 40th anniversary! It has carried 200 million Metro customers since it opened in March 1984, helping people get to work, education and leisure activities. Read: https://t.co/d4SU6gaXLB
Congratulations to our client @FurrerFreyGB as well as @My_Metro & @fugro for winning a Rail Business Award for the Tyne & Wear electrification renewal programme! Great to see their work recognised for improving the resilience & reliability of the network for customers #RBawards
Lots and lots of people worked really hard on this - not least all the people who attended - so glad the news is out. The @PWInstitution is starting to make a big difference in electrification.
Great to see our client @FurrerFreyGB feature in this @ncedigital article after a successful partnership to upgrade all roads at @Eurostar's London Temple Mills Depot with moveable overhead electrification equipment. #Rail#Electrification

🤝Today we mark completion of a big job. Over 1.5 kilometres of moveable electrification up-and-running for @eurostar at their London depot. A successful partnership to create a clean, modern and efficient depot. #railways#Rail (1/3)
🚆 On every road in the depot, a #train can roll in under electric traction, the electrification is depowered, earthed & moved out of the way at the touch of a button. Teams then safely service & maintain trains. When they’re ready to go a button moves everything back (2/3)

Last week @railforum_uk visited our new facility being built in Beeston, Nottingham. Shaping our ambition for UK manufacturing to begin later this year.
I'm here in Newcastle this weekend with @My_Metro, Stalder, @FugroRailData and @FurrerFreyGB to survey the Tyne and Wear network with rail train mounted RILA surveying equipment. Gearing up for their electrification renewals (1/3).
I'm at Eurostar's Temple Mills depot today. Eurostar wants to start refurbing the e320 train bogies & this means installing lifting jacks. Tops of the trains will be above the high of the electrification when raised - this needs to move way out of the way (1/3)
