Join us in shaping the future of focused ultrasound!
The International Focused Ultrasound Society (IFUS) is a new organization dedicated to advancing the clinical practice and accelerating global adoption of focused ultrasound. Serving as the professional home for clinicians in the field, IFUS brings together experts from around the world to foster collaboration, share knowledge, and accelerate progress.
When you sign up to become a founding member, you'll join a growing community working to influence healthcare policy, expand patient access, and help realize the full potential of this transformative technology.

World-First Equine Focused Ultrasound Trial Underway
Researchers at @vamdvetmed have begun a first-of-its-kind veterinary clinical trial exploring the use of focused ultrasound histotripsy to treat sarcoid tumors in horses. Sarcoids are the most common equine skin tumor, and while benign, they are invasive and can pose a serious health risks.
As part of the study, the research team will surgically remove treated sarcoids following histotripsy to evaluate the tumors’ immune response to treatment.
This trial is funded by the Foundation and represents an important milestone in the Foundation’s Veterinary Program. Learn more about this study, which is currently enrolling: https://t.co/h0iIl1uTzi
Robert Goings, from Lebanon, Oregon, has joined a small but growing number of people choosing to control their #Parkinsons symptoms with high-intensity #FocusedUltrasound at @OHSUNews. https://t.co/lxdbAiSs0i
Our latest episode of Curing with Sound features Sasha Klibanov, PhD, Associate Professor at UVA, who discusses the evolution of microbubbles from imaging agents to powerful tools for drug delivery, and how focused ultrasound can safely open the blood-brain barrier to advance precision therapies and immunotherapy.

🎤 The @ASSFNeurosurg meeting in #Cleveland kicked off today with outstanding presentations one after another. 🧠✨
I’m truly grateful for the invitation to speak about #focusedultrasound#neuromodulation and share insights from our latest studies, alongside many exciting new developments in the field.
Welcome invited speaker, John de Groot, Division Chief of Neuro-Oncology at UCSF. An internationally recognised leader in brain tumour treatment including immunotherapy, focused ultrasound, and targeted therapies, specialising in treatment of adults with brain tumours.
Focused Ultrasound Preclinical Research
Researchers at @Stanford have developed a groundbreaking technique that uses focused ultrasound to generate light deep inside the body, without surgery or implanted devices. Led by Guosong Hong, PhD, the team demonstrated how ultrasound can activate nanoparticles to enable precise control of biological processes through light-based interventions.
This Foundation-funded research could open new possibilities for noninvasive gene editing, photodynamic therapy, deep-tissue imaging, and targeted drug delivery.
