@C1kt0r1A@yvvie4@fffffff93193511@wobbledawg Transness is a manifestation of modern western culture. The underlying biological elements exists in the intersection between biology and culture, but it isn't determined by the brain.
@fffffff93193511@yvvie4@wobbledawg Your brain doesn't assume you are any kind of sex, what does that even mean? Gender dysphoria is created socially and culturally.
@Errorreporrt@PossessionComic@Maphesdus@ContraPoints The Greeks also had taboos against homosexuality. At no point was it acceptable for two men to be in a loving relationship with each other.
What was acceptable among members of the elite was pederasty, which is not homosexuality.
@skolemize@GloomyGossip@Xenocai@Dinosaurwalk33@ItsMillieRiley I don't have a problem with you wanting to be called a woman despite being male because it makes you feel better.
I have a problem with us uprooting our entire epistemology and subjectivising all categories because the alternative is "bigotry".
@GloomyGossip@Xenocai@Dinosaurwalk33@skolemize@ItsMillieRiley Significant how? Dimorphism in humans is already on a spectrum such that some males tend toward certain female traits more than the typical male. This does not change the fundamental way we distinguish between sexes in any way.
@GloomyGossip@Xenocai@Dinosaurwalk33@skolemize@ItsMillieRiley Most trans people don't claim to be biological females.
That is not what that study is saying. It is saying that trans womens brains tended more towards a female brain than a cis-male brain would, but that it is still closer to a cis gender male brain.
@Xenocai@GloomyGossip@Dinosaurwalk33@skolemize@ItsMillieRiley Scientific constructs are approximations of reality. If the fact that water contains one oxygen atom somehow negatively impacts my identity, it doesn't mean that our scientific understanding of water is wrong or must change.
@Xenocai@GloomyGossip@Dinosaurwalk33@skolemize@ItsMillieRiley You have said nothing except make vague reddit appeals you learned from some trans video essay. "Biology is made up of human constructs" is not meaningfully engaging with anything. You have not made a case for anything.
@GloomyGossip@Xenocai@Dinosaurwalk33@skolemize@ItsMillieRiley Yes it does. Scientific categories are approximations of an objective underlying reality. The underlying reality itself is objective and exists independently of our descriptions of it.
@Xenocai@Dinosaurwalk33@skolemize@ItsMillieRiley You have not contended with anything I have actually said. How does a category being constructed have any bearing on the underlying reality it is referencing?
Why does a biological category being constructed change the reality that a bear is not a bird?
