Everyone I know that can afford to get Aircon installed, has it. My parents weren't able to get a split unit due to the age of their house but they got a window unit.

Example if you build a shed and it is higher than your fence line, you may need planning permission as your neighbour can now see it in their view

So when our houses get hot, they stay hot for ages and there is not an easy way to cool it down if you don't have AC
