Akbayan Partylist Representative Chel Diokno announced on Saturday that they have filed the "Interns' Rights and Welfare Bill" or House Bill 5081 in a video posted on X.

The proposed measure seeks to ensure that proper compensation is granted to college and university students who are required to undergo internships as part of their academic requirements.

"Sa panukalang ito, ang mga university at college students na required mag-internship ay may karapatan sa just compensation, tamang working hours, leaves, proteksyon vs diskriminasyon, sexual harassment, abuse, at exploitation, atbp." Diokno wrote.
