Finally beacon GB3LPS came on air this week. It's on 2320.935MHz from IO91FR. Thanks to the team for getting it installed and especially G8KPS who singlehandedly carried out all the "up-mast" work. Please take a listen and beacon spot if heard. #ghz_bands
Have you heard of the UK Meteor Radar System?
The project is now at the stage where it can record data from all the receivers in the network and make this available for research purposes. You can view the live displays on the project website at https://t.co/dggSlmf76B
This citizen science project is developed and built by volunteers and supported by RSGB Legacy Funds. The first phase of the project was to establish a beacon transmitter to illuminate a region above the UK and the second phase has been to establish a network of receivers. The sixth receiver was installed at Jodrell Bank in October, coinciding with the 80th anniversary celebrations of radio astronomy, which started with the late Sir Bernard Lovell observing meteors using WWII radar equipment in December 1945.
👀Look out for a wider update the March edition of #RadCom
You can also watch a presentation about the project from the RSGB 2025 presentation 👉https://t.co/t1MAbx02MC
