@FarLife1 About 8 or 9 is the first time I remember seeing Jupiter and the 4 Galilean moons. We even had an astronomy class at school, but that wasn't anywhere near as good as I'd hoped it would be. 50x10 binoculars were fine for Jupiter. It's life-long hobby.
@ronn214 @BrainXpansion @AMAZlNGNATURE It's to reduce wind shear (according to QI, which is a fact based show), the V formation disrupts the vortices that are generated by the wind flowing over their wings. The lead goose takes the full impact of the wind, so they rotate which one leads, regularly, to reduce fatigue.
John Oliver, "The Conservatives have had 5 different prime ministers over the past 14 years.. It's worth briefly revisiting all of them"
1β£"David Cameron.. Austerity.. Brexit"
2β£"Theresa May.. More austerity, two child cap"
3β£"Boris Johnson.. His time in office was a shambles.. Britain left the EU on the same day of the first case of the corona virus was announced.. His handling of covid was an unmitigated disaster"
"For the record there is only one actual f*ckpig in Downing Street.. David Cameron.. As a student at Oxford he once put his d*ck in a dead pig's mouth"
4β£"Liz Truss who had the shortest tenure of any British prime minister in history.. Her budget full of tax cuts for the rich which caused a mini economic crisis"
5β£"Sunak the wet.. A man who literally does not have the sense to get in from the rain"
"Brexit created red tape that has grown exponentially.. Trading goods with the EU is now so onerous that many businesses have chosen to relocate into mainland Europe which is not good news for the UK"
"Brexit is estimated to be costing the economy about Β£100 billion a year"
"While Brexit makes the news, austerity is the legacy of Cameron and his successors because it has in so many ways obliterated public services"
"Take the NHS, years of under investment have left it gutted and understaffed.. Wait lists for NHS treatment have exploded.. More than 7.5 million waiting for non emergency treatment, that's over 2.5 million when the Conservatives came in in 2010"

This damn lurgy/man-flu needs to go. Had a week of it, then recovered - now a week later and the bloody thing is back! Feels like I've swallowed razors every time I cough :( Not covid though. Trying to keep it to myself, but tricky with the family - I don't want them to catch it.
@Natures_Voice Phew! Anyone else seeing Sir David Attenborough trending get that dreaded feeling? Happy birthday Sir David and may you continue educating us all in trying to be better, more responsible versions of our selves, for many years to come. An incredible life, well lived.
@PatrickPierre73 You need a QRM eliminator, one with a #75 core so that it covers MW. A 2nd loop to act as a noise/sense antenna. Hope u find the source of QRM, must be a bad SMPS somewhere nearby. You could triangulate source with the loop. More cheap tech = more radio noise :( 73!
@DX_World Couldn't break the pile-up on CW yesterday, but caught them on FT8. I'll keep trying for a CW QSO but could do with the propagation improving a bit as signals were rather low. I'm pleased to work them on any mode and have nothing negative to say about the Dxpedition or operators.
@K3TripleR Got my VHF licence at 14 (youngest u cud get a licence in the UK then) & full licence a year later (12wpm code). Hamming for 42 years now & still get a buzz from every QSO. An Eddystone s640 was my SWL RX; Used to get in trouble at school for using my 2m FT202r brick at break! :)
@WA4WAX@K3TripleR@HamRadioBasics That's a beauty of an HRO! I had one of the WW2 HRO MX's with all its coil packs back in the very early 80s. Great RX, and I'll be using one later in the year as part of an SES, along with a suitcase TX, for the 80th D-Day anniversary.
@K3TripleR Like many of you, Vic20 was my first computer, had the tape deck & dot matrix printer. Later, C64/1541 disc drive. Cost an arm & leg then. Remember using Peek/Poke and various SYS numbers to display colours, etc on-screen. Shatner was born at 60 years old, just like Sid James :)
@michellefrumeto @MStrudl @TheVicMonte@githii@crazyclipsonly I agree, especially when I have to go to 'https://t.co/aPfMCNy6dc' to get to the so-called 'x'. It was, and always will be, Twitter to me, no matter what they try and call it. #twitternotx
