Nicole Kidman has worked with 19 female directors in eight years, far exceeding the vow she made in 2017 to work with one every 18 months.

The Oscar winner says women directors face a double standard as they are under pressure to “be perfect” when their movies get funded and there’s no room for error. Whereas rising male directors are more likely to get a second chance, female directors are knocked down if they don’t deliver a strong film. Kidman says that "can be changed, but it can only be changed by actually being in the films of women."
