@CahairOKane1@Damien0392@TyroneGAALive Cahair is there any research on the infrastructure at clubs across counties? Tyrone clubs has some very impressive facilities. In Antrim as an example the infrastructure is way behind. I can’t think of any ground with lights for football never mind hurling & a covered area.
@iGaelicCoach As a manager having teams understanding tactics is tough but on game day focussing the mind of a player in a simple way is vital.
I used to give players 3 jobs, for example corner backs, get in front, get possession and distribute the ball to a teammate or drive it long to space
@iGaelicCoach One thing is about preparing teams tactically, the best have 3+ methods of play they can adapt to for games. That’s all done in the background - too many teams are unable to do it.
I’m not a big soccer fan but I have mentioned before about adapting in game. Changes at ht from one team can shift the game so much, for the opponent being able to adapt to that during the game is vital.
I first noticed this when the Covid water breaks became tactical fixes
@mlverney Tipp didn’t just employ a sweeper. They spotted Corks tactic of playing down the line. They used Corks weakest line for huring quality & danger to them and invited them into a trap.
It was much a bigger tactical success than a simple sweeper
Donegal players out on their feet towards the end. A result of the carry ball game and chasing a Kerry attack plan in the first half.
The forced changes of Thompson & McHugh certainly didn’t help their use of the bench.
@movementcoachkm I honestly thought Jim would’ve had a specific play or two or a tactical approach of difference that we’d see.
They obviously believed what they do would work.
It didn’t work for Cork last week….
Donegals failure to change and go forward faster or kick forward is going to mean they’ll get close but without that change or huge luck won’t win this.
Kerry are in position to control the game and Donegals zone allows that
Donegal will change something. Will Kerry? Will Donegals change bring improvement? And if it does can Kerry maintain the lead or most crucially can they change in game to get on top again?
Donegal passes in Kerry’s half just too slow. They all take an extra bounce, are behind the man or direct to the man.
Many of Kerry’s are to chest and in front of the man. That half second two or three times in a row can give such an advantage
@willocallaghan@kevcorrigantrib To be fair will the @offtheball football preview on YouTube was very good. Maybe a bit more casual than what you’re looking towards but Donaghy, McHugh and others were excellent.
Kerry seem to be coming to a peak based on the last few games. Donegal just doing what Jim is renowned for, playing the system & winning.
Donegal to throw a spanner in with a tactical or set play but it’ll be a 1-2 point win.
I’m backing the draw. Maybe Kerry ht Donegal Ft.
@movementcoachkm The water breaks of Covid showed the importance of teams being able to adapt in game. Limerick are excellent at this.
I think the teams that can adapt or change tactics during the 2nd half in response to a halftime change by the opponent have a big advantage most days. 2/2
@movementcoachkm A Tipp player stated they knew when Cork go short from puck out they play down the line. Tipp wing forward can also be seen not engaging in the tackle about the 45 but offering the Cork player to strike or carry another 10yards into a tackle. 1/2
Here’s a thought that maybe @willocallaghan and co can consider. If Darragh McCarthy had not been sent off in Munster would Tipp have played a sweeper and shown the hand that ultimately proved so vital in an excellent tactical final win yesterday?
You can never rely on luck but it certainly helps. McGrath bought the penalty so well, it led to Cork losing a man when another day the whistle may never have sounded.
And they hit the post 3 times with the ball landing in the 6yrd box, once on the line & got no score from any.
