No, this story is not true. It’s a fabricated viral hoax that’s been spreading on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and X as rage-bait content. 
The X post (from @RONJMOfficial) shares a ~74-second TikTok video (originally from an account like @cjv vk21) with the caption “This Sad.” The video uses a consistent overlay text—“A 19-year-old tried to return a wallet, but the 64-year-old homeowner attacked him.”—along with stock/AI-style clips of:
• A young Black man (supposedly 19-year-old “Jason Miller”) holding a wallet full of cash on a porch.
• An elderly white man (“Steven Caldwell”).
• A Black woman crying (supposedly family).
• A Black man speaking (possibly a relative or witness).
• Police tape and a news-style reporter.
It claims the incident happened in Houston, Texas: Miller found a wallet belonging to Caldwell’s wife, knocked on the door to return it, and was shot by the homeowner who mistook him for a trespasser/intruder. Surveillance supposedly showed he was unarmed. Some versions mention a judge (often shown as or linked to Vonda Evans) letting the shooter go free.
