@MBelfrom@Highview6th I am so sad to see you leave but SO thankful to have taught under your leadership. You helped make my first year of teaching a great one and I’m so thankful for all I learned from you. Middie for life! 💜
As I walk out @Highview6th for the last time a few thoughts come to mind: 1. Relationships matter. You can’t grow staff or students without it! 2. True leadership is not about you. It’s always about those you are called to serve. 3. I will never forget my time @Highview6th!
Yesterday I got to graduate (a year late!). I’m so thankful for @bgsu and how it prepared me to be the teacher of my sweet 6th graders! #talonsup#middierising 🧡💜
The kids were so sad about having to play inside that I made a deal with them: If they worked hard & finished, I'd take them out for 5 minutes of extra recess. As you can see, they won. It was literally snowing. I was literally frozen. But it was seriously worth it. #MiddieRising
Yesterday we ended the day with a math relay game to end our unit on Order of Operations. This was supposed to be played outside but APRIL FOOLS! Ohio-Weather said no...35 degrees in APRIL!!
As a school community, we want to honor James with a celebration of life tomorrow, March 2 at 6:45 PM in Barnitz Stadium. All are welcome to come as we start to heal together as a community.

#MiddieRising
A8: I am looking forward to so many things but the 2021 convocation that @MCSDSuper is talking about sounds preeeetty awesome. #MiddieRising#MiddieChat
A7: I try to look for as many positive things to point out as possible. For example, just because a student didn't exactly meet their goal, if their grade/understanding grew at all, I see a reason to celebrate! Growth is growth! #MiddieChat
A6: I have been able to incorporate collaboration between students while remaining safe by having students work with the partner they are sitting closest to. This has pushed students to work with people other than their BFF. #MiddieChat
A5: Especially during remote, my students and I had to get creative with ways to show our math work. Students have helped me find awesome tech tools to show their thinking such as @Flipgrid! My tech toolbox has grown TREMENDOUSLY! #MiddieChat#MiddieRising
A4: I know the students of team 2 @Highview6th see their teachers interacting with each other all the time during transitions, in the morning, and even on zoom calls. That's even easier when your co-workers are your friends! #MiddieChat
A3: I think it's important to be honest with students about when we struggle. Whether that is not knowing how to use some technology or teaching a lesson that didn't go as planned, I try to be honest with students to show that it is OK to make mistakes. #MiddieChat
A2: When things get stressful in my life, I like to read, spend time with my husband and dog, get outside and I am ALWAYS down for an impromptu dance party with Mr. Rhea 😉 You think I'm joking... #MiddieChat
A1: I teach the power of a positive mindset inside my classroom by creating an environment where mistakes are not just accepted but EXPECTED! I try to highlight when I make mistakes to show students that no one is perfect, not even the teacher! Mistakes are proof you are trying!
A0: My name is Gail Rhea and I am a 6th grade math teacher at @Highview6th!! What I love the most about teaching in @MiddletownOH are the 1. the kids and 2. the fact that Middletown is my home!! #MiddieChat#MiddieRising
We are wishing @mrs_mentrup all the best as she prepares for motherhood. Our staff and students will miss you, but we can’t wait to welcome baby Mentrup to the family!@Highview6th @GailRhea2
