A French woman, 54-year-old Sylvie Yasmina, and her five children have been rescued in Pakistan after she alleged that her Pakistani husband kept the family confined and abused for more than 12 years.
According to police, the family moved from Australia to Pakistan in 2014 and was allegedly held in isolation in a small room in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Bara town.
The rescue was triggered when one of her sons managed to escape and alert authorities. Police found the family with visible injuries, arrested the husband, and shifted the mother and children to a shelter in Peshawar. The family is reportedly preparing to return to France.

Kemi destroyed Labour at PMQs today. It was brutal.
Labour are totally incompetent, nasty, spiteful and totally out of their depth. They’re in it for themselves. The problem is the Labour Party.
If you missed it, take a look at some of the best bits. Absolutely on fire 🔥👇🏼
In 2022, Putin’s propaganda machine released a video showing what Europe would look like without fuel—with donkeys and horses harnessed to cars.
Four years later, there is now no gasoline left in Putin’s own Russia.
Fate certainly has a sense of irony.

Taliban opens fire on civilians protesting morality police in Herat, Afghanistan
Residents of Herat took to the streets to protest the Taliban’s brutal “morality police” and their aggressive enforcement of the mandatory burqa and chador dress code for women and girls.
In response, Taliban fighters opened fire directly on the demonstrators in the Jebrail area. Eyewitnesses report that gunmen targeted people in the head, chest, and legs as they fled.
At least one person was killed and 20–22 others were injured, including a 13-year-old child. Some wounded civilians reportedly avoided hospitals out of fear of arrest, while Taliban forces blocked access to medical centers and patrolled local hospitals searching for protesters.

This is what Russian captivity means for Ukrainians
Putin persuaded Trump to compel Ukraine to accept a 3-day ceasefire for Russia's victory day.
Trump claimed 1000 POW from each side would be exchanged.
Zelensky accepted.
Russia responded with 1,400 drones and ballistic missiles against civilians in 30 hours afterwards.
No POW exchange so far.
No protest from the US or Trump.
Once again Trump shows that he supports Putin.
Ukraine allows Putin’s May 9 parade to go ahead after Trump’s intervention and a promise to exchange 1,000 Ukrainian POWs. No prisoners have been freed, and Putin after his parade unleashed one of the biggest missile and drone barrages of the war. Here is a Kyiv high-rise where dozens were killed and injured last night, including children, and many more still remain under the rubble.

5⃣military and economic targets are being hit nearly 2,000 km from the border.
The Economist describes the situation as a potential turning point in the war.
