#52booksin52 weeks 2020 - my goal is to only choose books from my own bookshelves - no re-reads - I want to discover hidden gems that I never (for whatever reason) got around to reading ...
The book of British birds, Reader’s Digest (1981)
I love this book, I had it as a child then bought it again second hand a few years ago. Growing up in 80’s Norfolk I hadn’t seen a buzzard until I moved to Devon. I still love seeing and hearing them. #books
A thing of beauty for a dark morning, Hellebore and Edwardian books, I love these flowers I can see why people collect plant varieties looking at these.
#burgessbookchallenge pt.17 Sword of Honour 1952-1961 "not merely the story of one man's battles; it is the whole history of the European struggle itself, told with verve, humour, pathos and sharp accuracy"
American classic #MobyDick was first published 167 years ago today in Britain. The Folio edition is faithful to Melville’s text, and retains the spelling and punctuation of the original - Rockwell Kent’s illustrations from 1930 are a true match. https://t.co/sNofsBvdtl
What a wonderful adventure this #Proust2020 project is! I am absolutely loving it. For my fellow Proustians who read this passage but perhaps don’t know the Giotto fresco’s involved, here are Envy and Caritas (“as a cook might hand up a corkscrew..”).
