Vijay Kumar, 40, worked as a cab driver and lived in Delhi's Krishna Nagar with wife and two daughters
On 23 July around 9 pm, he received a booking on Rapido app from 'Ayan'
He accepted the ride. Four men got in
On the way near Chitra vihar area of Delhi, they stabbed him repeatedly
Then they threw Vijay out and stole the cab
But after seeing some people coming behind them, they left the cab outside East Azad Nagar metro station and fled
Police traced the phone numbers and identified all:
- Mohd Ayan
- Mohd Sahil
- Mohd Aman Qureshi
- a 17-year-old (name withheld by police)
All except Qureshi have been arrested
Attached is a picture of activist @RealAzadVinod with Vijay's family, who we are in touch with. Vijay died the same day
What a tragic case
Multiple such cases have come to light in recent times where drivers with app-based cab operators have got killed similarly. Driver unions have been time and again demanded mandatory KYC verification for customers
@sewanyaya is legally intervening to push this demand or some other policy that would ensure safety of such drivers. We have also pushed for compensation to the poor family.
I'm not happy bcoz he resigned. I'm happy bcoz it's an egg on the IT cell's face. They not only mocked but also called GCs "Pakistanis" for opposing the UGC. You all fucking deserve this. Now eat it.
In any other country, this would be treated as a grave criminal act.
A young life lost due to poor quality of infrastructure and callousness of civic agencies in the heart of our capital city.
They didn't anticipate Pakistan's strong response to attacks on non-military targets on May 7.
Indian planners thought if they didn't attack military targets Pakistan would not respond but they did and hence the tit for tat attacks continued till May 10.
Had Pakistan not responded, there would have been no escalation. Matters would have cooled down on May 7 itself.
But any country in Pakistan's position would have responded militarily if there were attacks inside their territory.
Pakistan was prepared for Indian attack ever since Pahalgam happened.
That explains their swift response resulting in downing of an unspecified number of frontline IAF combat aircraft flying inside Indian airspace.
A lot of people are like, "He shouldn't be PM because he isn't a strong leader."
He marched across the entire country on foot. He endured 12+ years of relentless attacks and mockery of his family. He has exposed multiple scandals of the current regime.
But honestly, none of that is the most important part.
The most important thing is,
You can talk to him.
He is far more likely to listen, hold press conferences, answer questions, and be held accountable. There will never be a perfect Prime Minister. We don't need a perfect one.
We need an accountable one, someone who listens, acts, and can admit when they're wrong.
