Criticism isn’t defeated by argument, only by results.
When someone attacks your work or your choices, the instinct is to protest (“that’s not fair”) or defend (“here’s why I’m right”). But both are dead ends. The moment you argue back, you’ve stepped onto the critic’s ground and started playing by their rules. Defense reads as weakness, and protest rarely convinces anyone.
The critic can always volley back. It’s a stalemate you can’t win, because argument is symmetrical: words against words, indefinitely.
Action breaks the symmetry. If you simply keep working and keep building the thing and putting out your art, you change the facts on the ground rather than debating them. The criticism doesn’t get refuted so much as it gets outrun. It “yields” because the work itself becomes the rebuttal and eventually there’s nothing left to argue against.
The proof is sitting there, finished.
