📉 In 2003, Iraq was home to approximately 1.5 million Assyrian Christians. Today, only around 150,000 remain.

Hundreds of thousands have been persecuted, displaced, or forced to flee lands their ancestors have inhabited for thousands of years.

🕊️ Communities uprooted.
🏛️ Ancient heritage destroyed.
Everything shown in this video occurred after the year 2000. This is not ancient history — it happened in our time, before the eyes of the world.
Under ISIS, Assyrian Christians and other religious minorities faced a brutal choice: convert, pay jizya, flee, or face violence and death.
⚠️ This was not only religious persecution. It was an attempt to erase a people, their faith, their history, and their presence from their ancestral homeland.

🏛️ The Assyrians are one of the world’s oldest surviving indigenous peoples, heirs to an ancient civilization that gave humanity great cities, libraries, art, literature, and monumental architecture.

ISIS did not only attack the living. It attacked the past.

⚒️ Lamassu statues, ancient reliefs, archaeological sites, manuscripts, churches, and priceless artifacts dating back centuries and millennia were vandalized, looted, burned, and destroyed.

An attack on the Assyrian people and their faith is also an attack on humanity’s shared history.

The atrocities committed by ISIS against Christians and other religious minorities in Iraq have been widely recognized and described as genocide.

🌍 We call upon the international community, UNESCO, the United Nations, and human rights organizations to take stronger, concrete action to protect Assyrian Christians, preserve their heritage, and hold those responsible accountable.

This video shows only a fraction of a much greater tragedy.
