Frenchtown Road is a vital entrance and exit to Port Bolivar, as well a popular scenic route through wetlands for bird enthusiasts who flock to the Bolivar Peninsula during Featherfest in March and April to photograph the migratory birds.
Galveston County Road and Bridge crews are applying asphalt to Frenchtown Road in Port Bolivar. This project is also raising the grade of the road by nearly a foot to help prevent water from running over it during high tides.
A low-pressure system currently located off the Louisiana coast has a 70% chance of tropical development. Regardless of whether the system develops, Galveston County area can expect rain over the next couple of days, with 3 to 5 inches of rainfall possible.
