If only there was an effective, sustainable, people friendly and cheaper solution to this perennial problem 🧐🧐🧐 just build ⁦@galwaygreenway⁩ ⁦@GalwayUrban⁩

Every day another family jumps on the bike and leaves the car at home for the school drop off. It could and should be like this outside every school in the country. What a way to start a Thursday! 😊🚲🚲#CycleBus #SafeRoutesToSchool @GreenSchoolsIre @SRTS_Ire

[Galway School Cycle Bus @cycle_bus]

Despite the wet start to the day we had 3(!) new families join us this morning! Great fun whizzing by the stationary traffic discussing the latest pokemon cards 😂. Join us for a spin any morning, we're more reliable and more fun than the bus! 🚲🚴‍♀️🚍#CycleBus #SafeRoutesToSchool

@MichelleStenzel Need this in Galway, if we had a local authority with enough imagination to put forward a plan for public debate! We have Galway Bay with coastal promenade that is dying for such development. Council will have to erect coastal flood protection soon. Why not design both together?

[Ciara Curran @ciara_curran33]

I rarely cycle our kids to school (3km away) due to cycling safety concerns arising from poor road design and lack of a segregated cycleway. We all lose out on the benefits of exercise/fresh air. If only @GalwayCityCo could provide #safecycling for all?

[RTÉ News @rtenews]

The world would save nearly 700 million tonnes of carbon pollution each year if every person adopted the Dutch way of life and cycled on a daily basis, new research has shown https://t.co/oBayAhhyys

An extraordinarily raw and honest interview from Grainne. It was never about the bike, it was never about Salthill, it is about making our communities and streets safer for all. Essential listening for decision makers and leaders in Galway @GalwayCityCo. #Sundays4Safety

Dear Irish politicians, have a look at the video below.

You may think you’re looking at lots & lots of cyclists, when in fact these are first & foremost “voters”

The wheel is turning.

[#wildatlanticgreenway #barna-galwaygreenway @GalwayUrban]

Hundreds of people, young and old, of all abilities and backgrounds, cycling 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️to Salthill this evening for a swim🏊‍♀️, a walk🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️, a 99 🍦, to lie on the beach🏖️, meet up with friends and catch some sun ☀️. Why can't we make it safer for them? Why is it so hard? #iBikeSalthill

[Senator Pauline O'Reilly @paulinegalway]

I'd like to hear what Councillors will do to promote cycling. I'm tired of, predominantly men, saying that they cycle in Galway but doing nothing to support safety for others. There is an opportunity to get a quick win for cycling in Galway. Let's take it

Great article about the perils of cycling in Galway. Time for our leaders to step up & engage. We support calls for a public meeting with all stakeholders to discuss Salthill. There can be consensus with honest, factual & genuine debate #iBikeSalthill

[#wildatlanticgreenway #barna-galwaygreenway @GalwayUrban]

@AlanCheeversFF Can you be specific on which cycling groups targeted public representatives?

[#wildatlanticgreenway #barna-galwaygreenway @GalwayUrban]

@AlanCheeversFF That's not true Alan. We tried to engage on multiple occasions with all stakeholders. We can still organise a public forum that @CllrJConnolly suggested. Bring all interest groups, business groups, residents associations, and most importantly, engineers from the council, & talk.
