I'm one of the accessibility consultants on Spider-Man 2, the game referenced in the GIF. I specialized in the features to support legally blind/low vision gamers.
It's not just about helping myself and my community to enjoy games, it's also about better design overall.
20%+ of people will experience permanent vision loss and low vision as they age. I'm all about game preservation too. I want to be able to go back to older titles that I enjoyed when I was younger and the same goes for the games coming out today.
The human condition is fragile and no one is guaranteed a nondisabled lifestyle in the future. It's just as important to preserve our abilities to play the games as it is to access them 5, 10, 30+ years from now.
As long as the games are accessible to obtain and replay in the future, I feel the games investing in accessibility today will age much better than the ones that opted to not be accessible in their design.
Options are always better. People don't experience the world in a linear way.
#SpiderMan2PS5 had an update drop that included many of the accessibility features I consulted on during my time spent at @insomniacgames! 🕸️
I'm happy to hear blind gamers have been able to swing into action and finally wear another mask, this time minus the devil horns 😈
Nearly a year ago, I set out to explore the metaverse (VR Chat) as a blind person, trying to make friends...
I unexpectedly found love.
This is the story of how I met my girlfriend in virtual reality. (video in the first reply) #VRChat
The Indigo Disk for #PokemonScarletViolet has been an absolute blast. Leave it to Unova to go strong! As a packaged game between the base and DLCs, this feels like one of the more recent games in the series with a plethora of content and post-game.
I made a 🍑 Mii on my 3DS back in high school.
I never changed it as my default avatar and when I visited the Nintendo Store in Tokyo the employee had me scan a QR code to attach my account to my purchase .. and the associate chuckled and called me "Buttface!" ☺️
This was patched as of last night. 😎

Here's hoping @SplatoonNA and @NintendoAmerica consider more accessibility QA testing. #splatoon3#accessibility
As a visually impaired kid, I adored gaming industry keynotes. Many would find it boring but I'd try to skip school or watch it over the network in between classes dreaming of being part of it.
Growing up there weren't many games to play for someone with blindness but I knew I wanted to be apart of changing that.
I never imagined speaking at E3 at 21! There, I advocated for accessibility with top industry figures, leading to consulting roles on award-winning games. E3's gone, but its spirit thrives in varied ways.
Thanks, @geoffkeighley for the opportunity in 2018 to be apart of the Coliseum programming. You made a childhood dream come true!

🙇🏼♂️ I'll share my personal favorite Spider-Man memory, my Dad's best friend (who we referred to as an Uncle) growing up actually did the VFX and editing for the original trilogy and that was my first inspiration into getting into video production. And when I was 10 I was able to visit Sony Pictures and get an early look at Spider-Man 3 nearly a year before release with Sam Raimi even autographing a movie poster! 🕸️
