Today Eric Cole was named PGA Tour Rookie of the Year for 2023.
I played with Russell in his first webdotcom event in Knoxville. I will never forget him saying after the first tee shot he couldnt feel his legs and he went on to top 10 and rode thst into a great career. Guy flushed it and was as nice as could be. Pulling for him.
Russell Knox’s 65 today in Q-School is the sign of a true professional. He started the day in 91st place. His opportunity to regain his TOUR card was over.
Did he WD or pack it in? No. He shot the low round of the day.
That takes some fortitude for a player who once ranked in the top 20 of the world, won a World Golf Championship and once spent December with the world’s best at the Hero World Challenge instead of the dreamers and grinders at Q-School.
Who will I be “Sweating?”
•Many people to cheer for this week, however, 2 guys in particular for me…

•@TheRealD_Shore student of my friend @GandyGolf

Ten days ago Camilo Villegas was 227th in points. He had made 3 of 10 cuts on Tour with a T48 as his best finish. He had basically no hope of retaining his full card and was headed back to 2nd stage of Q-school.
Now for the 2nd week in a row he has a chance to win. Just shows that when you see guys struggling badly its hard to tell how close good golf is.
Excited to announce my verbal commitment to play college golf at Clemson University. Thanks to Coach Byrd and Maxon for the opportunity. Go tigers! #ALLIN
And… @KingstonGolf23 senior Will Bacon is the 2023 Class A State Champion.
With rounds of 6-under 66 and 1-under 71, Bacon won by two shots over Bolivar junior Carson Daniel (73-66).
Bacon is the first individual golf champion in Kingston program history.
Looking forward to playoff golf and happy to earn all conference honors this year with a scoring average of 38 through 9 holes. @GandyGolf@SanJoseStateMGO@WSCC_Golf
