I love Jesus. Blessed with a kind, good husband, children, and grandchildren. Writer. Grateful for our military and those who serve to keep America free.
St. Patrick: From Slave to Preacher
When Patrick was a teenager, he was kidnapped during a raid on Britain and taken to Ireland to serve as a slave. After six years in captivity, he escaped, made his way back home, and eventually was ordained into the priesthood.
Then God, in his ironic way, sent Patrick back into the land of his former captivity to proclaim the freedom of the Gospel.
The boy who had been a slave was used by Christ to bring his word of salvation and life to a people who had been living in the darkness of pagan unbelief.
In Patrick we see the Lord of life at work, as we see him at work in our own lives. The God who can take a slave who seemed destined for nothing but death, and use his life to bring wisdom and light and salvation to the lives of so many others—this same God can and does work in our own lives.
We may seem destitute of hope, but the hope of Christ is stronger than our weakness. As he was for Patrick, so he will be for us: our companion in suffering, our life in death, our resurrection in the grave, and the Lord who uses us in his own way to bring blessings into the lives of others.
Today, may you wipe the weariness and worry from your eyes so you can see God more clearly. God can open your eyes so you can see Him, His plan, and His purposes. God will give you a right view of Him. When you see Him clearly, everything in your life will come into focus.
God Slumming with Humanity?
When the Son becomes one of us, this is not God slumming with humanity. It’s not like a human becoming a bug, or an eagle a flea.
No, the incarnation is not so much God-made-small as it is humanity-made-big.
The God who made man in his own image outdoes himself: He makes himself into his own image and thereby exalts us. Jesus becomes what we are—a woman’s child—that he might make us what he is—a child of the Father.
That’s what Christmas is all about. One small step for God, one giant leap for mankind. He becomes no less, but we become infinitely more in him.
Just because you are discouraged doesn’t mean you are disqualified! We don’t identify ourselves by our struggles or our feelings, we identify ourselves by who God says we are. Trust in who you are—anointed and chosen. And, even more than that, acknowledge “Whose” you are!
@DavidLimbaugh We love and miss Rush also. His wisdom still sustains us in these very troubled time. Keep speaking what we are thinking. We will always grieve him.
Prayers for you and your family.
