I’ve watched thousands of players work.
The ones who make it aren’t always the most talented.
They’re the ones who can read, adapt, and make decisions under pressure.
Basketball isn’t choreography.
It’s problem solving.
D-West and I go way back to our Five-Star Basketball Camp days.
At the NBPA Top 100 Camp, he shared a great story from those years. That’s what makes this camp so special. It brings together good people who genuinely care about making the game better.
Most players don’t get stopped by the defense, they get stopped by their own decisions.
Too many dribbles.
Too much wasted movement.
Too much thinking.
Elite scorers create advantages with efficiency.
Everybody wants to be called the GOAT Very few are willing to live like one.
People see the destination, They don’t see the discipline. They see the passport stamps. They don’t see the lonely flights, the sacrifices, missed holidays, early mornings, and the years of consistency.
The best coaches don’t need longer speeches.
They need better communication.
Players don’t remember paragraphs.
They remember phrases.
They remember pictures.
They remember demonstrations.
If I can say it in five words instead of fifty…
These players in Germany inspired me
Many players and Coavhes around the world inspire me
Michael Jackson was one of the GOATS
His music hit us today in germany 🇩🇪
It reminds us that if Our dreams Goals and Missions are important to us then we won’t stop till we get enough
Had a Chance to Workout with Mantziaris
Wonderful Kid
He will be a King One day!
His footwork was implacable
His attitude was insightful
His focus was intense !
Why? He puts his work in.
His Routine has gotten him his results!
The best coaches don’t just teach basketball.
They connect.
Every player has a different story.
A different mindset.
A different reason for showing up.
Your job isn’t to coach everyone the same.
Your job is to reach everyone differently.
Too many players chase robotic reps.
I want read reps.
Anybody can memorize a move.
The best players recognize space, read defenders, process information, and make decisions at game speed.
Don’t train your body to repeat.
Train your mind to solve.
Everybody wants to talk about who the best players are.
At TOP100, we worked through one of my favorite ghost-screen actions. Not because it looks good on film, but because it forces players to think, communicate, react, and make the right read under pressure.
Everybody talks about communication on defense.
But great offensive teams talk too.
Why? Because communication creates clarity. Clarity creates timing. Timing creates advantage. The best offenses don't look like five players running plays.
Everybody wants the highlight.
The trophy. The scholarship. The contract. The championship. The applause.
What nobody talks about is the climb back up.
The missed shot. The injury. The cut team. The heartbreak. The doubt. The days when nobody believes in you.
The best players aren't just great passers.
They're great CONNECTORS.
A handoff isn't just a handoff.
It's timing.
It's touch.
It's communication.
It's understanding where your teammate needs the ball before they even ask for it.
The small ball is a great tool to work on feel and coordination.
Add the tennis ball and now you are working on “hitting that defense “ when the poke at it !
I love the drills and so do the players
Reps build instinct.
Reps build confidence.
Reps build reputation.
A real coach doesn’t just know the game…
they learn PEOPLE.
Some players need pressure.
Some need patience.
Some need truth.
Some need belief before correction.
That’s why experience matters.
