The second of the success series by @abhinavsnayak#MollywoodTimes is a hate letter to film and filmmaking and it's auto biographical 😉(you can't prove it) as well as meta in nature (with the biggest horror by saying the truth). Technically brilliant and #Naslen delivers one of his best work.
One criticism could be that @abhinavsnayak could have made the second half a bit more crispier and he could have made it a bit more darker (the film is dark enough).
@abhinavsnayak eagerly waiting for the third film of the success series. He is a Sui Generis in Malayalam Industry. Not sure if he's the best yet, but he is going to be the GOAT at this rate.
Why would he be over making money? He has lost a lot of money as well recently with Marakkar and Barroz. Also, look at all the movies by Pranavam Arts and how much do you think it has made?Maybe all this money minting now is for taking riskier characters or movies later.
Nonetheless, as a commercially valuable star the 6 movies mentioned plus Valiban shows range as an actor as well. As a whole of the film, maybe Aashirvad may do it later like Mamooty Kompany, upto Antony chettan. But do look at all the movies by Pranavam Arts apart from it's last co-production, all movies are gold but burnt money, infact you can say Mohanlal took risks when noone was taking it.
#Blast is one of it's kind mass masala movie from Tamil cinema, a woman centred , family oriented full on action flick! I watched it in a theatre in Kerala at second show and it was housefull and the ending got a lot of claps!
The movie's screenplay is very average and with loop holes, but what it lacks in writing is made up in the brilliant direction by debutante Subash aided with pumping music by Ravi Basrur, on screen charisma and action by the Action King #ArjunSarja , and the swag brought by #Abhirami and #PreityMukundan . Speaking of Swag, the antagonist played by Arjun Chidambaram also looked menacing on screen which made the curry thicken.
Special applause and hats off to stunt master Phoenix Prabhu sir. These are movies were you want to appreciate the stunt choreographers more.
A paisa vasool, full on action mass film. Do watch it in theatres. @agscinemas you have another winner here.
#NoOtherChoice Well late to watch this South Korean film, which is an instant modern day masterpiece from the legendary filmmaker #ParkChanWook. Social horror should be the term for the genre of this film.
The film is technically perfect, which you do not see any compromise these days but the use of dissolve as an editing technique when used so brilliantly with the screenplay you do feel you are watching a modern art. This commentary on Capitalistic evolution in the modern day and the failure of communism is brilliantly portrayed, but at the same time, upholds the value of love and power of partnership, the film speaks in volume.
Many thoughts on #Drishyam3
(potential spoilers alert)
_____
I imagine that for quite a few people, the joy of watching the Drishyam films might be contained in the thrills and twists, in the inevitable Georgekutty win, in those slow-mo shots at the end as the eyes of his adversaries widen at being outwitted by Georgekutty's craftiness yet again... But for those like me, there are deeper joys in this franchise: particularly in its psychological depth, in its commentary on the personal and the social, and of course, on the criminal...
In Drishyam 3, for instance, my most favourite stretch comes just before the interval, when Georgekutty slowly realises that his adversaries can no longer be clearly demarcated as enemies to take down at all costs. Increasingly, his adversaries are now people whose peace has been stolen from them, in ways that even Georgekutty's genius could hardly have foreseen. The couple sabotaging his daughter’s wedding. Even the so-called ‘villains’. In other words, these hapless, frustrated people are essentially... him. Only not as intelligent, not as wily.
And it makes sense then that Drishyam 3 begins to grapple with the very real possibility that the most dangerous adversary of the invincible Georgekutty is perhaps... himself? Think about it. His guile has not brought him peace. In fact, quite the opposite, as his wins seem to have created more misery than any singular defeat might ever have brought him. His life, it seems, is getting knotted faster than he can unknot it. It's also why the most violent image in this film features—gasp—Georgekutty slapping and stabbing a woman. It's why, towards the end, we even get a line that summarises all this beautifully: "Victories don't necessarily bring peace."
However, given that the structure of Drishyam 3 seems more concerned with setting up those final twists, I can understand why you'd be tempted to attack the film for not being 'thrilling enough', for perhaps not coming up with a tactical mastermind who can truly take on Georgekutty and his incredible mind. But this isn't that film. In a sense, this isn't the Batman franchise, even if Georgekutty too is a self-sacrificing guardian. The Drishyam franchise isn't about coming up with increasingly theatrical villains with conflicting worldviews. Three films in, the antagonists remain the same people from the first film, cyclically hurting one another, even if not always intentionally. Again, as the film itself puts it: "One must rot for another to grow."
So, I do think that Jeethu Joseph himself, like Georgekutty, is a master deceiver. He lures you in with promises of twists and thrills, but they are just the smokescreen. The actual soul of these films lies not in the reveal, not in the final stretch, but in the painstaking set-up. That's where you see the guilt, the paranoia, the gradual erosion of peace. I'm glad these films are still focussed on such psychological weight because to get carried away by the thrills would be this franchise's poisoned chalice, I think.
It's tricky because the film does seem burdened by having to behave like a chess thriller. That's why you've got all these characters still underestimating Georgekutty, even though, to us now, it feels incredulous, and we end up not joining them in cynicism about Georgekutty's abilities, but actually judging them for being so naive. Imagine thinking that this man, who turned policemen into 'fans'... has survived on luck. This film, in a sense, tries so hard to reset our expectations so that Georgekutty's inevitable 'victories' continue to generate the same thrill they once did. But the effect, I'm afraid, is diminishing.
The masterplan and the layering around it do feel rather... heavy and convoluted. The psychological work may be fantastic, but the plot-work doesn't feel ingeniously simple anymore. They feel laboured, engineered. It's perhaps why we get such obvious violence too (especially from Sahadevan) in this film.
The franchise is at a crossroads now, as it flirts with another sequel. I think it might just have squeezed the last juice out of this now-overfamiliar structure. Imagine if they sprang a Logan from out of nowhere, a film that's so much more about the drama than any pre-programmed twists. We are now at a time when even Georgekutty himself seems to be wondering whether all his brilliance was worth it. He's having nightmares, his daughter's crumbling, his wife's panicking, his enemies are growing... It's why he, and Jeethu, seem to have decided to ‘end the war’ for now.
And so, as Georgekutty himself seems keen to stop playing this endless game of deception, perhaps director Jeethu Joseph can too. Perhaps next time around (and I hope there is one), Drishyam can proudly flaunt its psychological strengths instead of camouflaging them in thriller clothing. After all, we have come to recognise this trick now.
Revisiting this tweet and saw I called the script mediocre. Apologies and reminds you the fact that sometimes you need multiple rewatch to understand the brilliance of a script!
#ManjummalBoys is return of friendship movies as survival thriller to Malayalam cinema. #Chidambaram is the new 💎 of director from Mollywood. Mediocre script but @sushintdt music & @shyjukhalid DoP elevates the movie along with art dir. #AjayanChallisery
Loved the movie ❤️.
Except the point that unnecessary promotions(paid ads), Veena's character not in the second half and flaws in the style & editing, which is not points to call a movie "bad". None of the other points stand.
I'm not sure what's the point of putting a video especially on the second day to call it a bad film?
For the reach?
It's okay to have an opinion and stating it as such, but calling it bad film based on a single watch and without a proper analysis is just deliberate attack. Exploration of Georgekutty's character in itself is the movie which the director has stated in promotions. And the "massification" of Georgekutty is not character breaking but his descend to going extraordinary miles which even the character acknowledges at the end. If you are rewatching again, do checkout the body language, it's not a mass action hero cutting someone but desperate measure to save his family and the best part is, it is organic.
Also, Drishyam 2 in Hindi and Malayalam are basically the same story and maybe better in making (colour tone , editing pattern and screenplay choices) but nowhere near acting (which in itself is a huge down considering Mohanlal was accused of loosing his charm at the time), drama elevation and totality.
@This_Is_Ubais Can you justify your rankings? This looks like a random rambling without any basis or just another ragebait. Is it based on just the film or script or just making wise?
Because Drishyam 3 below Nunakuzhi and Drushyam 2? There is absolute mismatch
#Drishyam3
Spoiler Free Review🚨
The movie is an exploration of Georgekutty and his life after D2 incidents.
It's flowing organically and then explores the inner turmoil of Georgekutty more. It is a slow burner as most of it is drama, watch it in that manner.
Drishyam 3 is more of a character study and exploration of Georgekutty which has been brilliantly potrayed by Mohanlal. I think Georgekutty's character arc is more explored in D3 than in the previous franchise. The thriller part comes in the second half and gets going from there.
If you are expecting great twists, then you will be disappointed but this movie is a great entry into Drishyam universe and asks the question what Georgekutty is capable of. Overall a great slow burn thriller!

#OruDuroohaSaahacharyathil is a psychological political thriller, brilliantly genre blended by #RatheeshBalakrishnaPoduval. It is not everyone's cup of tea. The movie explains how defiance against authority is termed as Maoist terrorism in larger context.
#KunchakoBoban delivers the best performance ever 🔥. He might be the actor with most range now among this generation actors.
#DileeshPothan aids to KuBo's performance and adds meat to the character.
Overall a very good political psychological movie from Malayalam. Catch it in Netflix now!
Congratulations @vdsatheesan 🎉🎉🎉. The people's mandate is with you. The 13th CM of Keralam!
Now it's time for you to deliver good governance to Kerala .
Do not disappoint us! We are counting on you.
#Bharatanatyam2Mohiniyattam is such a dark comedy laugh riot, like Aadu, it exceeds it's previous film in all terms. The script is brilliant, the Direction is top-notch and overall performance from all the performers is so good. And it does match to Drishyam in the twist as well 😂
Do watch it!!! 4/5 movie
What Penrose is actually saying is wilder than the headline.
His theory Conformal Cyclic Cosmology argues that when a universe gets old enough, all matter eventually falls into black holes. The black holes slowly evaporate. Eventually only massless particles remain and for massless particles, time doesn't exist.
At that point, the dying universe and a new Big Bang are mathematically identical.
One universe's death IS the next one's birth.
We are not the first. We will not be the last.
