@OConquistadora while also settling the La Plata thanks to d'Albaigne's expedition. In the end, they would have the brazilian gold and some coffee/sugar plantations in the Southeast, even if limited by the parallel up north that would serve as a border with the portuguese.
Interestingly, the Huguenots could've settled what are, essentiatly, the best lands in the Americas south of the Mexican border.
The river system, coal and oil reserves, the gold mines, the arable land, all of it could be under their jurisdiction with good, defensible borders
time to redo this map because the huguenots would likely prefer the southern cone over expanding into the cerrado and the amazon rainforest while also keeping the gold mines up in the north
just need to add a few details and come up with some names
@OConquistadora In Mato Grosso-Goiás they're 100% artificial, but I tried to stick as much as I could to natural borders.
As for the Portuguese, in-lore the French would eventually be able to annex the Estado do Brasil, while the portuguese would remain in the north+

@Wanderfersos It really depends on the size of the colony. If they only settle the Brazilian Southeast, then yes, it would more than likely become a Mega Haiti because of all the sugar/coffee plantations and gold mines

@Wanderfersos It was one of the possibilities, but taking into account the nature of the colony (supposed to be a safe haven for protestants, but also a cash cow for France) it could eventually become something similar to the Thirteen Colonies with free and/or slave colonies
Not to mention the most suitable climate for European settlement too
The country would probably be a magnet of European immigrants, just like the US was. Half a continent filled with French speaking protestants, from the tropical beaches of Rio de Janeiro to frigid Patagonia.
