Did Stalin Kill 60 Million Christians?
Part 1:
The Holocaust by Bullets and the Push to Defame Stalin
Neo-Nazis and the nationalist movements in Ukraine and the Baltic states that glorify wartime collaborators are the direct ideological descendants of the men who marched our grandparents to the edge of the pits at Babi Yar, Rumbula, Ponary, and thousands of other killing sites across the occupied Soviet territories and shot them where they stood.
These same forces now expend enormous energy defaming Joseph Stalin and promoting the grotesque fiction that he "killed 60 million Christians." Their motive could not be clearer: if the Soviet leader can be turned into history's greatest monster, then the actual perpetrators, the Lithuanian Ypatingasis būrys, the Latvian Arajs Kommando, the Ukrainian Auxiliary Police and OUN militias, and the Estonian Omakaitse and Security Police, can be rehabilitated as noble anti-Soviet "freedom fighters" whose hands are wiped clean of Jewish blood.
The "60 million Christians" slogan is not a historical claim. It is a political weapon designed to obscure who actually pulled the triggers in the Holocaust by bullets and to shield the collaborators' heirs from the moral consequences of their grandfathers' crimes.
In several of these countries, the killers are being polished into national heroes. Waffen-SS legionnaires are honored in annual marches, and men with Jewish blood on their hands are recast as anti-Soviet freedom fighters, their part in the genocide quietly edited out of the story. That is a lie told over the graves of the murdered, and it should be named as one.
And it was the Red Army that destroyed the machine doing the killing. Soviet troops overran the death camps of occupied Poland and liberated the survivors of Auschwitz in January 1945. Around half a million Jews served in the Red Army, and well over a hundred thousand of them died fighting the regime that had set out to exterminate their people. Whatever else is true of the Soviet state in these years, and the later sections of this paper do not spare it, the force that broke Nazism in the East was the Red Army.
There is a further reason the figure matters beyond arithmetic. To inflate the Soviet dead and relabel them as "sixty million murdered Christians" is to quietly push the actual Holocaust out of the frame. The Jews shot at the edge of the pits by the Einsatzgruppen and their Lithuanian, Latvian, Estonian, and Ukrainian auxiliaries shrink into a footnote to a fictional number, and the men who pulled the triggers recede behind it. Whatever the intent of those who repeat the slogan, its effect is erasure, and that erasure is precisely what serves the people now busy recasting the collaborators as heroes.
The honest answer to it is not a counter-myth but the documented record: name the killers, name the collaborators, name the whitewashing, and let the facts stand without a fabricated figure laid over them.

@Juvat_20@kurolneko@xAviation Absolutely correct. They inherited an airplane that was part of the space program. But in the end, they started using it to transport weapons of mass destruction.
