Dear Science Deniers,
(Anti-vaxers, anti-maskers, climate hoaxers, flat-Earthers, etc)
You found one another & communicate via stupefyingly advanced technologies that pivot on the discoveries of scientists.
Just thought I’d remind you of that fact.
Sincerely,
Your Smart Phone
I just love people that complain about how bad 2020 is. As if chronology itself wasn't an artificial concept made by the same people that slaughtered animals in a market in China and deposited 3 metric tons of ammonium nitrate in a warehouse in Beirut. It's not the year DUMBASS..
@efingo It kind of defeats the purpose of creating stuff in the first place don't you agree? Isn't that what we all signed up for in the beginning? To solve shit creatively by using our skillset?
How are some designers that have little or nothing to show on their portfolio so successful ? Is it all just a game of who knows who ? Is it all just talk and BS ? Where does meritocracy stand in the design field ?
@efingo I agree. But it also implies having actually produced something that people can see. I feel like a lot of newcomers are making huge career leaps just because they know the right people. Fairness and hard work do not pay off.
@efingo So, in the end it's not a meritocracy, but rather design politics and a who is who kind of approach. A lot of mediocrity can hide behind that. Some people just talk their way through promotions.
@efingo Or is it more about the brand that you've worked for, rather than what good a designer you are. Doesn't that leave room for the disemination of mediocrity?
@efingo So it's all about "word of mouth". I'm seeing people in their 20s being courted by the likes of AirBnB and Twitter just because they worked at Facebook for a while. Yet they have no proof of work. Not even old projects. So how does one evaluate their expertise? Acquaintances?
