I have shared my story many times over the last 7 years. Each time I share anything about my past I take the necessary time to process my thoughts and remind myself of my end goal; to protect children from being abused. It is as simple as that for me, there has to be an end – a legacy to leave. Children need better protection and safeguarding. If I feel challenged on that conversation, I take a stand - as I have this time with the Naked Bike Ride. Having no regrets is important, regardless of the outcome - I have to feel like I tried on the conversations that I feel need challenging.

My focus to protect children stems from the reality that 90% of victims of CSA knew their abuser. The 10% (stranger danger) is still important to understand, but the 90% is critical and urgent. Hidden in plain sight. I know the impact of CSA and the childhood it takes, the scars it leaves and the difficulties it causes. I feel grateful to have found a light, not everyone does.

I don't enjoy sharing my story but know I have to get important messages out there and for society to know why I am here as a campaigner. I have to assume the person reading my posts has never heard my story before...it might be tiring for some to read, but they can unfollow me - and those that do, they are no loss to me - my mission is much bigger than that, I need people on this side of the fence of safeguarding - quality not quantity - every time for me!

Thank you to everyone supporting me. I am close to taking my tech break...slowly winding down. Recharge the batteries, but I will be back...there is a lot to do!

In my opinion a paedophile will always be a paedophile. Many people know a paedophile, and many people support one. I say that because given the stats around the hidden in plain sight message, it is most likely that we all know one. Over the years I’ve learnt of two known to my family 😞 all I can think of is the victims of those cases.

Those of showing support for a paedophile suggests to me that you are complicit with child abuse and when paedophile sentenced, there should be careful consideration to those complicit and justice should be served. I heard about a woman whose husband was arrested one night in their family home. She stood by him & allowed him back post prison. She had two small boys 🤦🏽‍♀️ I don’t know of any intervention and support she had but A) he should never be around children again and B) the wife clearly needs help, and C) I’m certain his children will also need buckets of therapy when they learn of what their father did.

I recently read a mother’s blog about her paedophile son - or should I say, a sob story about him, and about her and how she/ him is struggling to cope - not one mention in the blog about the child who had been violated by their son or of any of the considerations around what that victim now faced with the life they’ve been left with, because of their paedophile son.

This same blog said her son always knew right from wrong 😮 making what he and the family did even more horrific and mind-boggling in my head. I mean, I know what’s right from wrong and I am a campaigner against paedophiles/ CSA.

If I ever found out that a family or friend (or anyone I knew) had hurt a child in this way, then it would not be a complicated decision for me to know what to do next with our relationship >>> and my blog would certainly start with a headline about the child and would be reinforcing the hidden in plain sight message and the 90-10 stat.

There are many things that society can do. Yes, I do understand it is important to gather research and garner knowledge on a paedophile that could potentially totally give more information that can help protect children and prevent further CSA, but one thing I do not understand is why people are wrapping a paedophile in cotton wool and asking for forgiveness? Prison does not stop a paedophile offending.

I know of two paedophiles in my hometown, both have been to prison. But now they are out they have anonymity and protection - but the children don’t. I saw one close to the park and called the police. But I should not have to. Society should be educated enough to know a paedophile is always a paedophile and the families of paedophiles should put other children in their community ahead of their paedophile son. I say that because they’ve already seen their paedophile son has form - nothing else will change - they will be more sinister in not being found out next time. The child doesn’t have that option to hide.

If in doubt, check paedophile hard drives - simple - and then accept the paedophile you know will always be a paedophile.
