@jerrygarcia I was there. I lived with the band 66-70. Pigpen in 66 was the only member who could sing in key. The rest practiced like crazy and actually took voice lessons. They improved considerably. The Dead's psychedelic sound left Pigpen's orbit. I don't think he ever dropped.
