Today while walking my 3 year old daughter a group of “Slava Ukraini” protesters followed us around and shouted as my daughter grew increasingly anxious and scared.

I decided to speak with the protesters in the hopes that I could trade a few minutes of conversation for them leaving my toddler alone. (Nearly all of them agreed.)

It was a mostly respectful conversation, but if you’re chasing a 3-year-old as part of a political protest, you’re a shit person.

Hyman’s time in Toronto wasn’t a lead role & early in his career. His unmatched work ethic was overlooked for the “Star Core” to carry the Leafs to the promised land. Happy he got an opportunity to show what he could do, it wouldn’t have happened in TO. Huge MISS by the Leafs 👎

Don’t get it twisted - I’m a big fan of Zach Hyman and deeply regret that Toronto didn’t re-sign him.

I do, however, find it interesting that it’s mostly the same ‘revisionist historians who denounce Leafs management for letting Hyman walk in every thread’ that I see blasting Mitch Marner for “not being built for playoffs”.

Zach Hyman never scored more than a single playoff goal in a series while playing for Toronto. Toronto never got through the first round with Zach Hyman in the lineup.

2017: 6 GP, 1 goal.
2018: 7 GP, 1 goal
2019: 7 GP, 1 goal
2020: 5 GP, 1 goal
2021: 7 GP, 1 goal

If we still had Hyman and this were his last 5 years in the playoffs, you’d all be torching him right now.

They do & so does Boston & all successful playoff teams. Simple reason is they aren’t afraid to go to the dirty areas where your best chances happen. This is a region the Leafs don’t know about or are to afraid to penetrate. Hence, they never win
