AMD has quietly removed the security feature called Transparent Secure Memory Encryption (TSME) from consumer Ryzen processors via newer BIOS firmware updates. This encrypts data stored in RAM, making it harder for someone with physical access to steal information The hardware remains capable of supporting the feature, which is still available on Ryzen Pro and EPYC processors. Users discovered the change only after updating their BIOS and noticing that memory encryption was no longer available. Many users feel AMD should have clearly explained the change, especially since some systems lost the feature after firmware updates.
