Commission: painting the entrance wall of Ivy dining.
The most rewarding painting I’ve done so far.
Would love to see your pictures next to it next time you go there :’)
We need to support the Kurds for a variety of reasons. Here's just a few reasons:
1. We OWE the Kurds our backing -- big time. Had it not been for the Kurds, we in the West would not have been able to eradicate the ISIS caliphate. Back then, no one in the West was willing or able to commit large numbers of ground forces to do that; instead, the Kurds became our de facto "ground force" against ISIS. Ask any of the SOF or regular forces who served with the Kurds about the criticality of what they did. They'll tell you.
2. The Kurds are not religious fundamentalists. In wars, especially civil wars, humanity is always one of the first casualties: Brutal atrocities occur on both sides of a conflict, especially if the conflict is a "religious" war, and as one side commits an atrocity, it inspires the other side to match that atrocity. However, ISIS barbarism was not matched by the Kurds. (That's just not who the Kurds are.)
3. No one else advocates for the Kurds. Between 25 and 35M Kurds are now spread between Turkey, Syria, Armenia, Iran, and Iraq. Today, none of those five countries supports acknowledging Kurdish autonomy because each country's existing government fears this would establish an existential threat to their rule, their current national government, and their existing national boundaries. Someone outside the boundaries of where Kurds live has to do that.
4. The West owes a longstanding debt to the Kurdish people. The Kurds were repeatedly victims of Great Power machinations and actions over the years. Let's take a moment to remember how national boundaries and the creation of countries occurred in that particular part of the world; the Sykes-Picot Agreement was but one example.
The reality is that the Kurds are a distinct ethnic group with their own language, culture, and history. Unfortunately for them, the Kurdish people were never protected or defined by natural geographical boundaries (i.e., this coast, this river, that mountain range). Historically, no one has ever really "stood up" for the Kurds, and international relations are not driven by human kindness. I understand that.
However, the Kurds demonstrated their friendship and value to us by defeating ISIS on the ground and bringing peace to northeastern Syria. We should now at least put pressure on Turkey, Syria, and other governments in the region to prevent them from suppressing (or slaughtering) the Kurds.
I don't think that's too much to ask.
Our Kurdish allies in Syria have for years been among our most effective partners in combatting the Islamic State. The United States must continue to stand with our Kurdish partners as we pursue peace in the Middle East. https://t.co/l01OO99DVT
The Kurds cannot be ignored in any settlement that is to emerge in the Middle East. The Kurds are a fundamental part of that region. No longer can the Kurdish people and their identity be denied or ignored.
Jiyan Omar, a Kurdish youth, confronted Faisal Al-Qassim and all Arabs on the lying Al-Jazeera channel. His rebuttal is so profound it should be taught in the universities of anti-Kurdish nations.

Erdogan’s spokesperson:
“We will not allow the presence of any Kurds in Syria, no matter which group of name they use”.
There you have it, " its not about the Kurds".
US Senator Lindsey Graham announced on Tuesday that he plans to introduce legislation this week aimed at imposing "crippling sanctions" on any government or group engaged in "hostilities against the Kurds," in a measure he referred to as "The Save the Kurds Act" - Statement
I call for EU, USA, NATO to recognize, defend Rojava Republic to be established and recognized East of the Euphrates River

Boycott Made in Turkey products!!!
Turkey’s economy is built on the repression, displacement, and ongoing war against the Kurdish people. Refusing to fund that violence is a small but meaningful act of solidarity. No normal trade with occupation, ethnic cleansing, and denial of Kurdish rights. ✊🏽
This is a call to the world: protect the Kurds, secure a decentralized future for them in Syria, and stop legitimizing violence as “stability.”
Stand with the Kurds now, before ISIS and chaos rise again from the ruins.
