A test I use for literacy - when copying from the board does the student look and write a letter - look and write a letter, etc - or does the student look and write several words at a time?

Handwriting struggles are often dismissed for students…we need more people who understand how weaknesses in one area can impact other areas.

*And throwing a computer at a child with poor handwriting is not remediation.

Listening to adults read does not teach children how to read but it fosters a lifelong love of books. It introduces advanced vocabulary, provides background knowledge, and makes children aware that the world is vast and diverse! Listening to Mozart makes me want to take lessons.
