We’re here to help #Gatley residents 24 hours a day, seven days a week, during this crisis. We have a network of over 50 #Volunteers able to help self-isolating, vulnerable or shielding people with shopping, prescription collection or welfare checks. Call us if you need us.

We’re now supporting 241 #Gatley residents through our community of 51 awesome Volunteers. Over 1,000 phone calls answered, bags and bags of shopping delivered, and over 275 prescriptions collected. And quite a few dogs walked!

What’s in a name #3. Coronavirus is a family of viruses that look a bit like they are wearing crowns (“corona” in Greek). The one that is causing so much trouble now is called COVID19. That means “COronaVIrus Disease 2019” which is when it was identified.

What’s in a name #2. “Coronavirus” is a family of viruses that included the common flu, SARS, MERS, & others, that infect lots of animals & humans. The virus has sticky-out bits that look like its wearing a crown. The Greek word for crown in “corona”, hence “Coronavirus”.

What’s in a name #1. “Gatley” comes from the original name “Gateclyve” which means "a place where goats are kept", first recorded for our village in 1290.
