Ah cmon Philip. You are one of few exceptions. I consume an incredible amount of media daily cause I drive so much. You name the show or podcast and I’m listening.

Even when things are covered they’ll put a panel together of MHR or Matty McGrath against well articulated and polished debaters.

The media and politicians are so tight, we have to watch decades old videos of VB destroying Donnelly on YouTube because they won’t challenge sitting Govt Ministers. Every Govt TD should be petrified of going on politics shows, knowing if they don’t have their research done they’ll be pulverised.

The whole world is up in arms about the Hate Speech Bill yet somehow, RTE, TV3, RED C, Ireland Thinks haven’t done a poll on it in 7 years. We all know why.

RTe have had the same “random student” member of the public on that many vox pops I can paint her picture from memory, she just so happened to be at two Fianna Fáil events during and just after Covid and is now working for a Govt funded NGO.

Christ they can’t even run a decent programme on how shit EVs are because they’ll upset too many of their big advertisers.

On a consistent basis, we see negative Govt stories accompanied by pictures of Sinn Fein TDS. Any 101 psychology student will tell you why that is. Same reason images of MLM are darkened.

RTE, the public service broadcaster, responsible for holding the GOVERNMENT to account, ran a Claire Byrne special on why not to vote for the opposition.

We spend more on NGOs than we do on Gardai yearly, yet a debate on that seems beyond the capabilities of Montrose. Let’s not get started on Montrose.

They’re allergic to reprinting or picking up stories from the Ditch. Most of the articles are clutching at straws anyway, but the very fact they’re ignored further erodes confidence.

I am centre left. I don’t want to live in a centre left bubble. I want to hear everything from McGuirk to Tony Groves and everything in between, in the open, on our TVs and radio.

People left and right on the spectrum have lost faith in Irish media. People are crying out for debate. The essence of democracy is to facilitate that debate, tell the truth, the whole truth and hope that society makes the right decision. And if they don’t, tough shit, that’s democracy at work.

I don’t call people with a different opinion to me far right. I accept that those living in areas of high unemployment, lack of doctors, housing, Gardai, school places, hospital places and everything in between have genuine reason to be concerned when those resources are further stretched.

But until every side has an equal voice on our MSM, we’ll see further polarisation just as we do in the States. All we need now is a fecking INP gaining seats and stoking flames. We avoid that by respecting people’s views, not abusing them from the Dail and MSM with tropes and insults and certainly not by kerbing their ability to speak and censoring what they hear.
