I am a Conservative Councillor for Kenley in the London Borough of Croydon
For casework, please email [email protected]
Promoted by Gayle Gander of 36 Brighton Road, CR8 2LG
I hope Matthew Pennycook listens:
“Unfortunately, we cannot put a line on council tax bills marked “the cost of an outdated Whitehall formula”, but that is increasingly what residents are being asked to fund”
Councils across England are paying 2026 rents while Whitehall reimburses them using a formula frozen in 2011.
Local services suffer. Taxpayers pick up the bill.

What an exciting evening for Croydon!
Tonight’s eclipse starts at 6.17pm, peaking at 7.12pm with nearly 90% of the Sun covered.
A huge thank you to Croydon Astronomical Society’s volunteers for hosting free viewing sessions at three sites from 6-7.30pm: Addiscombe, Kenley and Warlingham.

A Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flypast will take place over Kenley Airfield on Sunday 16 August at 1pm, commemorating the Hardest Day.
We’re hoping to see a Spitfire taking to the skies, although this will depend on weather conditions and technical considerations on the day

Day eight of Love Parks Week and we are celebrating Higher Drive Recreation Ground in Purley.
It has a new outdoor gym, games courts, playground and beautiful shaded woodland alongside the open field.
It's great for a walk, a work out, or a rest!

It was a pleasure to attend the AGM of Purley & Old Coulsdon Clubs for the Elderly (PACE) this week. A fantastic organisation bringing older people together through activities, friendship and food!

Huge thanks to everyone who came along to yesterday’s Customer Roadshow in Kenley. 💙
It was great to meet so many of our customers, answer their questions and talk about water-saving tips, ways to save money on their bill and the support available for vulnerable customers.

Today marks the 6th anniversary of @jk_rowling's remarkable and important essay about her "reasons for speaking out sex and gender issues."
It is powerful, personal—and undeniably courageous. It is as relevant today as when she wrote it.
Her experience is a case study in what happens if you challenge a rigid ideological orthodoxy. The backlash is immediate, relentless, and often vicious.
As she asked then, “So why am I doing this? Why speak up? Why not quietly do my research and keep my head down?”
I find inspiration in JK's consistent fight for the truth and her refusal to be intimidated and scared away by the online mob.

I was at the May 1990 Bootle by-election when the SDP polled 263 fewer votes than the Monster Raving Loonies. A week later David Owen (who visited during the campaign) announced the party would dissolve saying that it could not possibly continue after finishing behind the Loonies
