Olúrónbí - the case of Yorùbá artefacts being auctioned abroad…

It was the following catalogue note that first caught my attention whilst perusing Sotheby’s website some moons ago.

“The Ọ̀yọ́ Ṣàngó Female Shrine Sculpture from the Bloch Collection.

This splendid Yorùbá sculpture is said to have been on the shrine for orisha Ṣàngó in Koso, a suburban hamlet to the west of the crowned town of Ọ̀yọ́. Koso is where the royal shrine for Ṣàngó is located, where the priests of Ṣàngó are initiated who in the past oversaw the organization of the Ṣàngó cult in the provincial towns thereby providing the religious basis for the Aláàfin's authority during the period of the Ọ̀yọ́ Empire (ca.1790 - ca.1836). The facial markings on the sculpture are of a type called àbàjà, which, as the Yorùbá historian Samuel Johnson observes, "are those of the Royal Family of Ọ̀yọ́" (1969: 106). Furthermore, her hair is styled in the five-cone pattern worn by queens and other women of royal stature….”

Then I saw the price this Yorùbá sacred artefact was sold for and the penny dropped!
$1,650,500 (One million six hundred and fifty thousand and five hundred US dollars)!

In my distress, the song of "Olúrónbí" came to my mouth and I began to sing:

The story of Olúrónbí in our folklore is a sad one and it goes like this…

A woman named Olúrónbí was barren. She consulted the magical Iroko tree in her village for help in order to conceive. Generally, people who consulted the spirit of the Iroko tree would offer goats, sheep, yams or fruit. Olúrónbí however did not bring anything with her but foolishly promised to offer her first born child!

After Olúrónbí gave birth, she tried to plead with the Iroko spirit not to take the child. The Iroko spirit however refused and would not be appeased and took the child.

We Yoruba have become Olúrónbí! We have foolishly promised to give away our heirlooms and heritage to the highest bidder and we are doing it right now! Shame on us!

May we have the courage to "shine our eyes".

That every student should learn the same thing. At the same speed. In the same order. At the same time.

Neither is being served. Both are being processed.

AI doesn’t teach a classroom. It teaches a student.

A student obsessed with basketball learns fractions through shooting percentages. A student who builds in Minecraft learns geometry through architecture.

The subject doesn’t change. The entry point does.

No teacher with thirty students can do this. Not because they lack skill.

Because the math doesn’t work.

AI doesn’t have that constraint.

You are owing someone money and the person brought Police to arrest you, this is what you should do.

At first, the police have no legal authority to arrest you for a simple debt, as it is a civil matter and not a criminal offense. According to the Police Act 2020 and the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA), the police are strictly prohibited from interfering in civil disputes or acting as debt collectors

Meaning that, the Police officer the person brought to arrest you, is on illegal duty and is on a mission to perform illegal arrest.

So at this point.

1. Ask the Police officer for his ID and take note of his name

2. Calmly tell the officer it's a civil matter

3. If the officer insist on arresting you, don't resist the arrest. Follow him

4. If they ask you to sign any undertaking of when you will pay back, sign it

That undertaking is not enforceable anywhere, so no fear at all

Once you are out

File a suit against the person you owe and the Police Officer for breach of your fundamental human right and illegal arrest with unlawful detention

In the suit, demand for damages of 50 Million Naira

Ignorance of the law is no excuse

If you look at the distribution of the Federal Allocation in 1955 you won't be too surprised to see that of 2025.

In 1955,

Northern Region: £4,750,000

Eastern Region: £3,750,000

Western Region: £500,000

Federal Government: £3,750,000

The Westen Region got the most ridiculously low allocation.

Today, the South-West Yoruba is getting the lowest allocation while the North-East and South-East whose major contribution to the country's economy was crime, insecurity and destruction got the highest

Even the North-West of daily banditry get more allocation than the North-Central it has terrorised everyday for many years now

According to the 2024 report Oyo State alone turned in IGR three times higher than the output of the entire South-East yet the South-East got more IGR returns dashed to it from the Federal Allocation than Oyo State.

As it was in 1955 so it is today, the Yoruba South-West still carries the burden of the regions which get higher allocation than it.

Half the Ibo population is in Lagos State and all Yoruba land adding pressure to our infrastructure and society. They have never stopped coming since the Europeans showed them the motor routes into Lagos.

The Hausas and Fulanis have never stopped coming with the mass of their population to dump on the same South-West.

If you ask the typical Ibo trader why he is in Lagos and not his own state he will tell you it is because of the Ports in Lagos.

But there is a Port in Portharcourt 40mins from Aba. There is one is Calabar and another Warri.

Okay ask him what is he doing in Ijebu-Igbo, Oyo, Ilesa, Ado-Ekiti, Akure, everywhere in Yoruba and even the interior villages of Yoruba land. Is it still about PORTS?

Is there a Port in Ile-ife?

No!

It is about the heavy Yoruba wealth and Population which is the target market for all of their imported fake and substandard goods. It is Yoruba population and wealth that can absolve the intensity of their continuous importation which is funded from proceeds of NARCOTICS and other CRIMES.

Yoruba land is the perfect ally in completing their cycle of money laundering and that same money is what is then devoted to buying the lands and properties of Yoruba people.

It is land grabbing.

This is the reason that these people desperately need ONE NIGERIA RUNNING ON UNITARY CONSTITUTION.

Yet they are the one gaslighting you with the cries of marginalisation everyday.

Nigeria is an impediment and danger to Yoruba existence.
