What's up, gamers! OSU Game Creation Club is starting our new year with our first meeting on Sep. 2 (Time TBA). This year, our meetings are moving to our Discord server to keep our members safe from the pandemic. Join our Discord here: https://t.co/lytNJ3ZCDt
As many of you are likely aware, along with the discontinuation of in-person classes, the university has officially cancelled all in-person student organization activities through at least April 20th. As such, we will not have any more club meetings in person this semester.
Tomorrow, we'll be kicking off Speaker Month with Scott Swearingen, Assistant Professor of Design at ACCAD. Scott has worked in the video game industry as a game designer, level designer, and environment artist. Come for this awesome opportunity to learn about the industry.
Tomorrow, we'll be talking about what's in store for the rest of the semester, including officer elections, Spring Game Jam, and what we're calling "Speaker Month" in March.
After those announcements, we'll play some Jackbox (and any other games you might want to bring).
This week, we're talking all about board and tabletop games, including how elements of them can be (and have already been) incorporated into video games. And don't worry; we promise we won't bring Monopoly.
Tomorrow we'll be back in the Union for a blender tutorial! If you're interested in learning to make 3D models, blender is an awesome free tool to do so.
Please come with the latest version of blender installed on your device to follow along!
Tomorrow, we'll be giving you the floor to show off all the cool things you made at Global Game Jam over the weekend! Come to show off what you made and/or see what the weekend spawned.
Global Game Jam starts tonight at 6:00 in Enarson Classroom Building 222! Join us for a fun weekend of making games, sharing memes, and possibly drawing cows.
We'll be meeting tomorrow to talk about Global Game Jam (this weekend!), announce the winners from last week's concept jam, and talk a little bit about game design via the medium of puzzle games.
We hope to see you there!
Tomorrow, we'll be doing a "Concept Jam"; basically, a game jam but way shorter, where you come up with and flesh out an idea for a game! If you'd like to do some quick concept art, bring your tools and get ready to create. Join us for what will likely be an amusing time.
Our first meeting for the semester will be tomorrow! We're excited to catch up with you all and meet more of you. Come for a brief overview of the club, to meet some new people, and to hear a little bit about the history of games.
Tomorrow is our last meeting of the semester! We'll be playing Jackbox and hanging out to chill a bit as the impending doom of finals nears. Join us for this respite if you can, and thank you all for making this a wonderful semester!
Tomorrow, we'll be giving you the whole meeting to work in groups on your month long projects. Next week we'll have a showcase for all your work, so get ready to share.
We have an exciting meeting for you all tomorrow: Alex Merkel from Button Punch Games will be coming to speak to us about his experience making a game and working in the industry. Join us for this awesome opportunity!
Tomorrow, we'll be talking about art style and character design, and we'll again be taking time at the end of the meeting to work in groups on our month long projects.
Hope to see you there, and Happy Halloween, ghoulish gamers!
