@xaviersofished As a Christian... This hurts my brain... Cause no, and yes... No evidence is the point of the first, and the second completely misunderstands the entire concept of what science even is. I hate that this was a real exchange, and that I had to see it. lol
@KK10PL The series was doomed from the beginning because the incels and maga got triggered by all the pretty colors. Most people refused to give it a chance because all they heard was "It's going to be bad" or "Star Woke". Apparently they haven't figured out Star Wars was always woke.
@KevinHerreraKXH@Rurouni_Aly Appeasement: You want to talk about Andor. It was a great series, and while you may know those characters, it would be foolish to imply the people who tried to cancel Acolyte before it premiered do as well. Again, "Forced DEI" was a reason they wanted it cancelled.
@KevinHerreraKXH@Rurouni_Aly I didn't ignore it. You moved the goalpost, and I didn't take the bait. You're attempting to imply you have no sort of bias against the show, but I never implied you specifically had a bias. You're taking it personally; I am talking about Acolyte and why it "failed."
@KevinHerreraKXH@Rurouni_Aly It's been 2 years now, and people are still talking about Star Wars Acolyte. When was the last time you saw anyone talk about Obi-Wan? How often do you hear people talk about Book of Boba Fett? Yet Acolyte is brought up in the public forum time and again. That says something.
@KevinHerreraKXH@Rurouni_Aly I am not in denial. I watched the show and understood what they were doing. You're echoing the same sentiments as the people who pre-judged it, but can't give actual examples because you didn't actually watch it, did you? Why is it that you think people still talk about it?
@theyloveDemby@erenfromtargets And burn down entire franchises to do it. Star Wars Acolyte, for example. For Example: a series people constantly say was bad - despite it being brought up years later - which was only cancelled because misogynists pre-hated it before it even released and review-bombed it after.
@CigSmoker13@Thornathemighty The moment that happened, I damn near jumped out of my seat! People claiming it was a bad show really need to rewatch it without pre-judging it. So many things in that series had me craving more, and I was excited for another season.
@KevinHerreraKXH@Rurouni_Aly If you find my saying that to be some sort of attack on your character, that is, again, something you need to reflect on. We all saw what happened in real time online. Pretending it didn't happen doesn't change history. But by acknowledging it, we can change the future.
@KevinHerreraKXH@Rurouni_Aly You're taking this personally, and I find it weird. If the statement made you feel personally called out, that's something you need to reflect on. I am merely explaining that the show's "failure" was no fault of its own. It was an online smear campaign from before its release.
@_Tristan_503@KevinHerreraKXH@Rurouni_Aly So while I am glad you're not delusional enough to claim racism and sexism do not exist, it is just as important to acknowledge that there are toxic people (tourists) out there ruining fandoms for all of us by prejudging things that don't cater to their nostalgia.
@_Tristan_503@KevinHerreraKXH@Rurouni_Aly After review-bombing, they then spread misinformation claiming the series was going to be bad and that no one would watch it. This all happened before the series even released. So the viewership struggled. This is a pattern. The same thing happened with The Little Mermaid.
@_Tristan_503@KevinHerreraKXH@Rurouni_Aly The main reason people got upset was literally because of "forced DEI", but more importantly, because Amandla Stenberg hurt their feelings with a comment she made. That isn't hyperbole; it was the catalyst. We all watched them spiral, and then they review-bombed the show.
@KevinHerreraKXH@Rurouni_Aly If you believe racism and misogyny were not the reasons the show was cancelled, you were not paying attention, or you're in denial. We've seen this same bullshit time and time again. Pretending it isn't happening doesn't make it go away; acknowledging and discussing it does.
