Coaches who teach more than just about their sport are the ones who make a HUGE impact on players. I love sports, I get a little out of control from time to time while watching my teams (sorry, Deb 😜). Building character in youth sports is MORE IMPORTANT than wins and losses.
How cool is this! Monrovia host the Bulldog Bowl for Arlow Olson. Son of head coach Andy Olson who was born with down syndrome and had to have open heart surgery at 4-months old. Its high school players vs. youth in controlled scrimmage. Arlow got his moment to shine with TD run
Mr. @tedcruz , I understand why you reposted this. To let everyone know Canada's healthcare system isn't perfect? Is our's perfect? Not by a country mile. Can you please rally both chambers of Congress and improve on what we have in the US. Thank you!!!!
This Canadian woman was given MAID as her only choice for stage 4 cancer in Deathcare Canada. She went to the US and death was not the option the doctors there gave her.
Canadian healthcare used to be good, it is now in desperate fear of collapse. They're bringing in doctors who did not study in Canada and whatever else that entails.
I find the healthcare in the US unquestionably superior. Health insurance is the same since I don't pay income tax in Florida, I pay it on insurance. There is immediate, private healthcare if you need it.
Medically assisted suicide is not an option they offer.
Liaudwin ... you are a great example of what hard work, dedication, and talent can do if you keep moving forward with a goal/dream. All anyone has to do is look at the MANY local stories in the DAR each week to know how much you care. Keep up the great work!!!!
I am not saying this for sympathy because life happens, and you have to get up off the mat and keep pushing things forward. No excuses. Just pressing forward and working hard.
This makes too much sense for it to ever happen in this political climate. The two-party system is more about control and not leading is exactly right. So sad.
Former Sen. Joe Manchin (I-WV) says America's two-party system has "choked out" competition, as he and his daughter, Heather Manchin, spearhead a new effort to elect independent candidates to Congress that would not caucus with either party.
"We're saying, be an independent, be a pure independent," Manchin tells @margbrennan, and argues “I’ll guarantee you, maybe you're going to make a difference of how they make their decisions because they're going to need you. They need you to get elected. They’re going to also need you to make law.”
No question ... IU football should have won. MUCH BIGGER story. Yes, the Knicks took over a city ... but the Hoosiers took over a NATION ... people fell in love with IU ... 16-0 ... come on ESPN!!!!!
While at the Tribune-Star I covered many of Tom's games at Marshall. He was great to work with. I could tell early on he knew what he was doing. Super basketball coach. Enjoy your retirement!!
Another long time boys basketball head coach is retiring. Tom Brannan is done at Casey-Westfield. He finished with 650 career wins. He coached Casey from 2016-2026. Previous to that he was at Marshall from 1992-2015. He guided the Lions to the 2009 state finals.
Love your column, @GreggDoyleStar … my 93-year-old dad shares your confidence in the Hoosiers. He’s over-the-moon excited. I have a lot of what I will call IU football scare tissue. I believe, but still have a part of me that questions if this is all real. GO IU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Woodson did exactly what he should have done post game
- There is no real #iubb media just blogger boys without any type background
- No reason to have players answer questions about his announcement
- players want to discuss they can use their own social media
- nobody owes these lil bloggers a thing

"In between doing chores, dragging feed and working with cattle, I would shoot on the side of the barn," Platt said. His mom would have to drag him in for supper. His dad would have to drag him to go to bed. It paid off in a big way. From the archives: https://t.co/DX3EPv7ZAL
A late-night knock on the door in 1978. Another in 2024.
